"Sami!" I hear Zach yell in a crowd of walkers.
"Zach!" I yell. "Where are you?!" I run through the crowd deeper and deeper but his screams are only getting farther.
"Zach!" I cry out as the walkers keep coming.
"Sami help me!" His yells keep getting more and more faint until they stop. I run towards the direction that I last heard them and I see a walker with its back towards me. I go to shoot it and as it turns around I see that it's Zach. I drop my bow in disbelief, I see another walker it's Beth, then Carl, then Carol, now Dean, now Shane, then Daryl's biting my neck and all their walkers join in.
I sit up quickly as I wake up from that bad dream breathing heavily. Oh thank God it was just a bad dream. Wait. I'm alive.
"I'm alive!" I cheer as I stand up off the bed. I look at my bite wound and it doesn't seem anymore worse than yesterday and I feel completely fine. How is this possible? I quickly look outside of the window but I don't see the RV or any of the cars. Matter of fact, I don't even hear anyone. I turn to run downstairs when a letter on my night stand catches my attention. I quickly grab it and start reading.
'Sami,
I'm sorry I couldn't do it. I didn't have the heart to shoot you. I went downstairs a little after you fell asleep and discussed with Rick what we should do, we think between Dale and you, the farm isn't as safe as we thought. We left. I don't know if you'll ever read this or if you've already turned but I'm sorry. I promise I'll keep Zach alive.
- Daryl'I sit on my bed and take a deep breath. They left me? Well, to be fair they thought they were leaving a lifeless person behind. I understand why they left, it isn't safe here anymore. I tuck the letter into my backpack and then I head downstairs with my backpack and the handgun they left me. They took my bow but I'm sure that was Zach wanting to keep something of mine.
I walk outside and smile when I see that they left behind the smaller of all the cars. Someone had hope that I would pull through. I load my stuff into the car and head down the long gravel pathway. I'm going to find them even if it's the last thing that I do. I'm also going to find someone who can tell me why I didn't turn. I just wish that I knew which way they went.
Dean's P.O.V
we left the farmhouse behind to find safer ground and it was hard, I've only known Sami for a few months but I've come to see her as family. It was like leaving a sister behind but no one has ever survived a bite before. I'm riding in my car with Zach and he's been really quiet since we left.
"You doing okay?" I look over at him as I follow behind Daryl on his motorcycle.
"I just forgot she wasn't invincible." He sighs. "She always made it through everything, even before all of this. Our entire life, she was the one who always pulled through."
"Yeah, she was special like that." I sigh. "I'm really sorry we had to leave her." He nods and leans against the door. Daryl turns into a neighborhood and stops outside of one of the houses. We have been driving for a while so he's probably assuming that we could all use a break.
Once I park the car I walk up to Daryl's bike with Rick and Glenn behind us.
"What's the plan?" Glenn questions.
"I'm thinking that maybe just for tonight, we clear out one of these houses and let everyone get some sleep?" Daryl looks at all of us.
"Yeah." Rick nods. "Yeah that's a good idea. Dean and glenn do you want to go in with Shane and you three clear it out? Me, Daryl, and T-dog will keep watch over everyone out here." Rick explains.
"Hey we are gonna go clear the house out." I grab my shot gun from my backseat. "Stay here, okay?" I look at Zach and he nods. I walk over to shane and Glenn and we head inside.
"I'll take the basement." Shane heads downstairs.
"I'll take this level." Glenn heads towards the back.
"And I'll take upstairs." I walk up the stairs and careful check every room and closet. The last room that I check is a little girls room, the walls are painted pink with purple curtains, princess bedding, toys everywhere, I can't help but sigh. I can't imagine being a child in this world or how hard it would be to keep a child alive in this world. I close the door and head back downstairs to meet up with Glenn and Shane.
"Everything clear?" Shane questions and I nod.
"Yeah same. I'll tell everyone they can come in." Glenn walks outside and helps bring everyone in.
Shane found some canned food well a lot of it in the basement so we brought it up into the living room and now everyone is eating in silence.
It's clear that things are different now. Not having Sami here has really changed the group and it's barely been two days. I left Sami a handgun and one of the cars, I said it wasn't working but really I lied. I don't think Sami is dead but I couldn't risk bringing her with us and having her turn on us while one of us was driving. I left the keys in the ignition and some food in the backseat. If Sami really is immune, I wanted her to be set up for a while. Plus, if she really is immune then I know she will come find us no matter what.
