It's been four weeks since I returned to the group. It's late January and the last few weeks have been really cold. Lori is going to give birth within the next few weeks and we managed to clear another cell block and the infirmary. Lori currently isn't talking to me since the whole Shane thing happened and that's okay, I was never really close with her anyway.
"What are you thinking about?" Daryl questions he walks up next to me. I'm standing on the asphalt looking out into our field.
"Just how quiet it's been lately." I look over at him. He's dressed in dark jeans with a long sleeve black shirt, with his vest and his hair is getting kind of long.
"Yeah the cold has really slowed them down." He looks over at me. "What you looking at?"
"That thing on your head that you called hair." I tease and he rolls his eyes playfully. "But for real, I've really enjoyed the cold weather lately. Reminds me of home." I smile.
"Hey Sami?" Daryl and I turn around and see Beth walking up to us.
"Yeah?" I smile.
"Can I talk to you?" She bites her lip and I look at Daryl.
"I'll come get you after?" He nods and walks away.
"Is everything okay?" I look at Beth.
"Um." She takes a deep breath. "I um. Woo this is harder than I thought that it was going to be."
"Hey it's okay." I smile to comfort her. "I'm not in a rush." She takes a deep breath and squeezes her eyes shut.
"I'm pregnant." She blurts out.
"What?" I look at her in shock. "How do you know?"
"I took this." She hands me a positive pregnancy test and I just stare at it. I don't know what to say.
"How do you feel?" I look at her.
"A little bit of everything. Happy, scared, sad, but happy. It's like a piece of Zach will always be with me." She smiles a bit. I pull her to me and hug her tightly.
"Then I'm so happy." I whisper as a tear rolls down my face. In the normal world, I don't know if I would've reacted the same way to finding out my little brother was going to be a teen dad but this baby is a piece of him that gets to be with us.
"That makes me so happy to hear." She sighs as she lays her head on my chest.
"Does anyone else know?" I look down at her and she shakes her head. "Can you come with me to tell them?"
"Yeah." I smile and we walk inside. "Hey everyone, can you guys all give Beth your attention?" I look down at her. She takes a deep breath and looks at everyone.
"I'm pregnant." She looks at Hershel and he starts tearing up. "I'm guessing about four weeks."
"Oh my sweet girl." Hershel walks over to her and hugs her tightly.
"I'm gonna be an aunt!" Maggie cheers as she wraps her arms around her dad and little sister.
"I'm glad our baby will have another baby to play with." Rick smiles rubbing lori's heavily pregnant belly.
"How are babies made?" Carl asks causing us all to laugh.
"Have fun with that one Rick." Daryl chuckles.
"Maybe we're next." Glenn teases Maggie.
"I'm glad a piece of Zach is still with us." Dean smiles.
"Yeah me too." I smile. "This is the happiest that I have been in a while."
