Hey, my lovelies! Happy reading! 😘

The night was cold and dreary; thick clouds blotted out the stars. Fog began to billow heavily across the road in a great gray mass. The bridge was only a shadowy form now, almost entirely lost to view. Headlamps of cars did little to pierce the gloom.

Fantasia was sobbing. Tears were pouring down her face. She just wanted to be seen, heard, and appreciated. Her struggles were mounting up, and it all started to feel like too much. That's why thoughts of ending it all took over her mind. She didn't have anyone, and after being kicked out of her apartment earlier, she didn't have anything. Her landlord had placed her belongings outside, and when she arrived home, junkies were running off with her stuff. "Nobody would even notice if I was gone," Fantasia said as she sat on the railing of the bridge.

Just as she was about to thrust herself forward off the bridge, she felt a hand on her shoulder. She turned to look, and the most beautiful woman she had ever seen stood beside her. "Is this really the answer?" the woman asked. Her eyes were fixed on Fantasia's, staring into her soul. "I have nothing left to give this world; all it does is take from me. I'm tired." Fantasia's voice was void of any emotion. She was too exhausted to even feel sorry for herself anymore.

"What if I could give you anything your heart desires? Will you get off this railing and come with me?" Fantasia looked at the woman curiously. She was a total stranger. Why would she help someone as lowly as her? "Who are you? And what do you get out of helping me?" The woman smiled, showing her pearly whites.

"I'm Taraji. Just think of me as your guardian angel," she said. She never knew how to explain to people who she was or how she did what she did. She barely understood the gift that she had inherited from her parents. People usually freaked out when she tried to help and didn't want anything to do with her. They thought she was just some kook, and she didn't want Fantasia seeing her that way. She had an immense desire to help this woman. The pull was stronger than ever. She needed to complete this mission, not only because it was her job, but because Fantasia deserved to live.

Taraji held her hand out for Fantasia to take. Fantasia stared at it for a moment, weighing her options. She had nothing to lose. She went to take Taraji's hand, but when she stood up, her foot slipped. Taraji grabbed onto her hand, stopping her descent, and Fantasia screamed at the top of her lungs. She was no longer ready to die. Not when there was a chance for a better, more stable life. "Please don't let me fall. I don't want to die."

"I got you," Taraji said as she pulled Fantasia up, their eyes never leaving each other's. Fantasia trusted this woman for some odd reason, even though she had just met her. Taraji seemed different from everyone else who Fantasia had encountered in her life. "I know," Fantasia finally replied as her feet were suddenly on solid ground. Her body was trembling, though. She had almost ceased to exist. If Taraji had been a few seconds later, she would be dead. Fantasia sighed heavily, her heart racing, tears still falling.

"Let's get you off this bridge and out of this cold air. You must be freezing," Taraji said as she placed her hand on the small of Fantasia's back, sending a shiver down her spine. Fantasia played it off as if she was just cold. But Taraji's presence did something to her body that she couldn't explain.

Taraji led Fantasia to her car and opened the door for her. Fantasia slid in the passenger seat, and after closing her door, Taraji ran around to the other side and got in. As they started traveling down the road, so many thoughts started to swirl in Fantasia's head. How did Taraji even see me? This fog is dense. Can she honestly give me a better life? I should be dead right now. But maybe that's not God's plan.
