I stared at my phone, still reeling from Finn’s call. Hayley and Henry—both missing, attacked, and cloaked by powerful magic. And now Klaus was in New Orleans, furious, on a warpath as always. I could feel the weight of the entire situation pressing down on me, the urgency of it all squeezing at my chest. This was bigger than just Hayley and Henry disappearing—it was about Hope, the school, and everything we had worked so hard to build.

I took a deep breath and looked around the room at Stefan, Alaric, Kol, and the other teachers. They were all gathered, waiting for me to speak, worry etched across their faces.

"Alright," I began, my voice steady despite the panic I felt rising within. "I just got off the phone with Finn. Hayley and Henry are missing. Klaus is in New Orleans, and things are... escalating quickly."

Stefan was the first to speak. "How bad is it?"

"It’s bad," I admitted. "Finn and Vincent can’t find them. They’ve been searching, but the magic used to hide them is too strong—even for them. And it turns out it’s one of Finn’s own spells. Whoever did this knew exactly what they were doing."

Kol let out a low whistle, shaking his head. "Of course it’s one of Finn’s spells. Why am I not surprised that this has her fingerprints all over it?"

"This isn’t Finn’s fault," I said, shooting Kol a warning look. "She’s doing everything she can to find them. But the fact that someone knows her magic, knows how to cloak people this well, means we’re dealing with someone extremely dangerous."

Alaric leaned forward, rubbing his temples. "And Klaus? How’s he handling it?"

I sighed. "Not well. He’s already accusing the witches in New Orleans of being behind this. Marcel’s trying to keep the peace, but you know Klaus—he’s not going to sit around and wait. If we don’t find Hayley and Henry soon, things could explode."

Stefan stepped closer to me, his hand brushing mine in silent reassurance. "What do you need from us, Caroline? How can we help?"

"I need everyone to be on high alert," I said, meeting each of their eyes in turn. "We can’t leave the school unprotected. Bonnie and Emma are already looking for any signs of Henry, but I need everyone else to keep an eye on the students and make sure they don’t sense anything’s wrong."

Kol raised an eyebrow. "You really think the students aren’t going to notice something’s off? This place runs on drama, Caroline. It’s only a matter of time before word gets out."

"I know," I said, my voice firm. "But we can at least try to keep things calm for as long as possible. If we start panicking, the students will, too."

Stefan nodded, his expression serious. "We’ll keep things under control here. But what about New Orleans? Do you think Klaus is going to push things too far?"

"I’m afraid he will," I admitted. "He’s desperate, and when Klaus is desperate, he’s unpredictable. Finn and Vincent are doing their best to keep him in check, but we all know Klaus. He won’t stop until he finds Hayley."

Alaric crossed his arms, deep in thought. "Do you think we should send reinforcements? Maybe Bonnie and I can go to New Orleans, help with the search?"

"I don’t want to spread us too thin," I said, considering the suggestion. "If things get worse here, we’ll need Bonnie and the rest of you here. But if it comes to it, we might not have a choice."

Kol sighed, clearly frustrated but resigned. "Well, I’m not thrilled about the idea of Klaus running wild in New Orleans, but I guess we’ll just have to trust Finn and Vincent to handle him—for now."

"Exactly," I said, trying to keep my tone calm. "For now, we focus on keeping things stable here. If we don’t, this could all fall apart."

As everyone dispersed, I felt the weight of the situation settling deeper into my bones. Hayley and Henry were missing, Klaus was on a rampage, and the school—our sanctuary—was on the brink of chaos. I couldn’t afford to let my emotions get the best of me. Not now.

But as I stood there, staring out the window at the fading light, I couldn’t shake the gnawing feeling of dread. Something was coming, something dark and dangerous, and I wasn’t sure if we were ready to face it.
