Jennie sat in the meeting room, tapping her pen nervously against the glass table. Her thoughts were a whirlwind, still reeling from the painful encounter with Lisa in the elevator. She hadn't expected to see her like this—so distant, so cold, and acting like a completely different person.
The door opened, and Jennie's breath caught in her throat. Lisa entered first, with Tzuyu right by her side. They walked in together, looking every bit the couple Jennie feared they were. Tzuyu whispered something into Lisa's ear, and Lisa responded with a soft smile—a smile that used to belong to Jennie.
Seulgi and Sana followed behind them, giving Jennie a quick smile before sitting down. Only they knew the truth—that Lisa and Tzuyu weren't really together, that it was just a front to make things easier for Lisa. Sana shot Tzuyu a subtle look of reassurance, while Seulgi leaned back in her chair, trying to keep things light.
Jennie's heart clenched painfully in her chest, and she fought to keep her composure. She's moved on... The thought was like a knife to her gut, twisting deeper with every glance they exchanged.
Jennie was drowning in her own thoughts, barely able to focus on anything but Lisa and Tzuyu.
Then, the door opened again, and in walked Kim Taehyung. Tall, confident, and effortlessly charming, Taehyung took his seat next to Jennie, flashing her one of his signature smiles. "Sorry I'm late," he said, his deep voice breaking the heavy silence. "Paris kept me longer than I thought."
Jennie felt a flicker of relief at his arrival, even though she knew Taehyung's presence often came with its own set of complications. He was her business partner, always supportive and there when she needed him. But for the past few months, he'd also been making it clear that he wanted something more. Despite his persistence, Jennie had shut him down time and time again. She couldn't bring herself to think about dating anyone, especially with Lisa still occupying her heart and mind.
Jennie's felt releaved. She had always appreciated Taehyung's presence—his unwavering support and his clear interest in her. But today, with Lisa sitting just across from them, everything felt heightened. Taehyung leaned closer to her, his hand brushing against hers as he settled in. Jennie stiffened slightly, but didn't pull away.
"Good to have you back," Jennie managed to say, her voice sounding far more composed than she felt.
Taehyung's hand remained on the table, close enough to Jennie's that it felt intimate—too intimate, especially with Lisa watching. Jennie could feel Lisa's eyes on them, and a part of her wanted to revel in it, to show Lisa that she wasn't the only one who could move on. But deep down, she knew it was a lie. She wasn't over Lisa. Not even close.
As the meeting began, Jennie struggled to focus on the agenda. Lisa and Tzuyu sat directly across from her, their closeness like a constant reminder of everything Jennie had lost. Tzuyu leaned into Lisa, her hand gently resting on Lisa's arm, and Lisa didn't pull away. The sight made Jennie's stomach churn with jealousy.
Meanwhile, Taehyung was being his usual self—sweet and attentive, occasionally leaning over to whisper something in Jennie's ear. At one point, he reached out and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, his fingers lingering just a little too long. Jennie saw Lisa's jaw tighten at the gesture, and for a fleeting moment, she felt a bitter sense of satisfaction.
Maybe she's not as indifferent as she seems.
