In the quiet of the night, I am the Moon,
Gazing upon the Earth, distant yet near,
Bound by love that can't be touched or swooned,
A silent longing so tender and clear.

In the dance of celestial bodies, the Moon waltzes alone,
A light in the velvet sky, her sorrow not shown.
She circles the Earth in her eternal embrace,
Her heart beats longing for just a trace.

Strings of gravity tie her in an endless ballet,
But between the Earth and Sun, she's nothing but a castaway,
Caught in an orbit, a delicate chase,
Fated to love afar in the dark.

Afraid to face the void, scared to be alone,
The Earth keeps the Moon near,
Their orbits entwined yet worlds apart,
She whispers softly, their paths unclear.

Through waxing and waning, her heart remains true,
A testament to a love that's well overdue.
For the Moon represents unrequited love and desire,
And yet even in their vastness, her love does not tire.

Though unreturned, my love doesn't fade;
In each crescent smile, in each full glow,
I'll keep watching from night till day,
As the Earth beneath me continues to grow.

And in the quiet of the night, I am the Moon,
I wax and I wane, in phases unknown.
