Rin's POV

I swear, this is so unfair.

Every time I try to get close to Artemis, she just warps the space around us like it's nothing. I throw a jewel, ready to unleash some serious damage, but the damn thing disappears midair and reappears 100 meters behind me. I don't even have time to react before it explodes in the distance, harmlessly.

"Artemis!" I shout, turning to face her, my fists clenched. "Stop messing with the space!"

She grins like she's having the time of her life, as usual. "What's the matter, Rin? Thought you were all about strategy." Her voice drips with sarcasm as she opens yet *another* invisible portal. It's infuriating. She's making it impossible to get close. One second, she's standing right in front of me, and the next, it's like she's miles away. I try running, but it's like the space around her keeps stretching and bending, even when it looks like she's close. It's maddening.

The worst part? There's no flashy distortion, no obvious wormholes, nothing to let me track her movements. She's not bending space in the usual way. I can't even *see* where the portals are opening up; everything just... shifts. It's like she's toying with reality itself, keeping just out of reach no matter what I do.

I bite my lip, my mind racing. I don't know enough about spatial magecraft to counter her directly, but I can't just stand here getting mocked all day. I need a plan now.

And then it hits me.

Summoning.

The principle behind summoning a Heroic Spirit is pulling them from a different time and space, right? It's not exactly the same as what Artemis is doing, but it does involve manipulating space on a fundamental level. If I can tweak that principle, maybe I can throw her off balance, or at least counter her warping long enough to land a hit.

I focus, pulling a couple more jewels from my pocket. I pour mana into them, channeling the same process I use for summoning, but instead of reaching across time, I'm aiming to control the space between us. If I can summon a point of space near her, I can force the distance closed. It's risky, but I'm not losing this fight.

I unleash the spell, throwing the jewel with all my might. The moment it leaves my hand, the space around it warps, and instead of Artemis warping away, the distance between us snaps shut like a rubber band. For a split second, she's *right* in front of me, close enough to strike.

Her eyes widen, but of course, she's still faster than me. Just as I'm about to follow up with another attack, she smirks and shifts space again, vanishing like she was never there.

"Nice try," Artemis teases, her voice echoing around the room. "But you're gonna need more than that."

I grit my teeth. Of course, she'd see through it. I knew this wasn't going to be easy. With her 360-degree magic perception and that ridiculous thought acceleration, she's always ten steps ahead. Not to mention the parallels a hundred thousand thoughts going on at once? I'd be lying if I said that wasn't impressive, but damn, is it annoying.

Still, I'm not giving up.

I cast another spell, layering it with the same summoning principles. I might not be an expert in spatial magecraft, but I can at least try to keep up with her tricks. The jewels around me glow as I force the space to close again, trying to pin her down.

Artemis tilts her head, that infuriating smirk still in place, and flicks her wrist. A portal opens right in front of me, swallowing my spell and sending it who-knows-where.

"You've got spirit, Rin," she says, casually leaning on the air as if it's a wall. "But you're not quite there yet. Space isn't just something you can brute force with your pretty jewels."

I grit my teeth. Of course, she's *right*.

But then, an idea sparks. I take a deep breath and focus. What if I use the same principle, but instead of targeting her directly, I summon a space that cancels hers out?

I throw another jewel, pouring every ounce of my mana into the spell. This time, instead of warping space or summoning something close to her, I pull the space into itself, creating a temporary void. If I can force her portals to collapse in on themselves, maybe, just maybe, I can stop her from warping around for a second.

The jewel hums with energy, and I release it, watching as the space between us begins to fold. For the first time in this fight, Artemis looks genuinely surprised. Just for a split second, her spatial manipulation falters, and I finally see an opening.

I leap forward, ready to land the blow But before I can even swing, Artemis vanishes completely, reappearing behind me with a soft laugh. "Not bad, Rin. Not bad at all."

I spin around, panting, frustration bubbling up inside me. "I'll get you next time," I mutter, already plotting my next move.

She gives me a playful wink, "Can't wait."

Ugh, she's so infuriating. I can't believe Sataro made her my familiar.

This is going to be a long fight.
