Jisung's hand brushed against Seungmin's cheek, his touch far more gentle than it had any right to be. The heat between them was still there—undeniable, magnetic—but there was something softer now, something Seungmin had never expected to feel from Jisung.

For so long, their encounters had been fueled by anger, competition, and the raw, physical need to prove themselves in every possible way. But now, as Jisung’s fingers traced the line of his jaw, it felt different. There was an intimacy in the silence, a shift in the way they stood, mere inches apart, as if the world around them had faded away.

Seungmin’s throat tightened, his mind screaming at him to push Jisung away, to remind him of the walls that had always stood between them. But his body betrayed him, leaning into the touch, craving more despite the internal war raging inside him.

Jisung’s eyes searched his, the smirk gone from his lips, replaced with a seriousness that Seungmin had rarely seen. “You don’t have to decide anything right now,” Jisung whispered, his voice low and hoarse. “But I’m tired of pretending this isn’t real.”

Seungmin’s heart pounded against his ribs, his mind clouded with the weight of Jisung’s words. It wasn’t just the physical connection that had made this so complicated—it was everything else that came with it. The rivalry, the resentment, the constant need to one-up each other in every aspect of their lives. How could they possibly turn that into something more?

“I don’t know if I can do this,” Seungmin admitted, his voice wavering as he spoke. It was the most honest he had been with Jisung, maybe with anyone, in years. “We’re not… we’re not supposed to be like this. We’re supposed to hate each other.”

Jisung’s hand fell from his cheek, but he didn’t move away. His gaze held steady, unwavering in its intensity. “Maybe,” he said quietly, “but I can’t stop how I feel, Seungmin. And I don’t think you can either.”

Seungmin opened his mouth to argue, to say that he could stop, that he could walk away from this and go back to the way things were. But the words wouldn’t come. Because deep down, he knew Jisung was right.

He had tried to hate Jisung, tried to push him out of his mind and pretend that the only thing between them was their business rivalry. But it was more than that. It had always been more. From the moment their paths had crossed, Jisung had gotten under his skin in a way no one else had. And no matter how much he tried to deny it, Seungmin couldn’t shake the way Jisung made him feel—alive, infuriated, but also wanted.

“What happens if we do this?” Seungmin asked, his voice barely above a whisper. “What happens if we let this become something more?”

Jisung’s lips quirked into the faintest of smiles, though his eyes remained serious. “I don’t know,” he admitted. “But I’m willing to find out. If you are.”

Seungmin’s breath hitched as he searched Jisung’s face for any sign of doubt, any hint that this was just another game, another ploy to get inside his head. But for once, Jisung’s gaze was open, vulnerable in a way that unsettled Seungmin more than anything else.

Could he take that risk? Could he let Jisung in, knowing full well how dangerous it would be? Not just for his heart, but for everything he had worked so hard to build?

He didn’t have the answer. But as Jisung’s hand found its way back to his, their fingers intertwining with a quiet sort of determination, Seungmin realized that maybe, just maybe, he didn’t need all the answers right now.

For now, this was enough.

Seungmin closed his eyes, leaning forward until his forehead rested against Jisung’s, their breaths mingling in the stillness of the room. It was a quiet moment, but it felt monumental. The tension that had always simmered between them hadn’t disappeared—it had simply changed, evolved into something neither of them could fully comprehend.

“Okay,” Seungmin whispered, the word slipped from his lips before he could stop it.

Jisung’s breath caught, and for a moment, Seungmin could feel the shift in the air, the weight of what he had just agreed to. But instead of fear, there was something else—something that felt suspiciously like relief.

Jisung’s lips ghosted over his, a soft, tentative touch that sent a shiver down Seungmin’s spine. It wasn’t demanding or possessive like it had been before. It was different. Softer. And in that moment, Seungmin realized that maybe, just maybe, this wasn’t the end of their rivalry. Maybe it was the beginning of something new. Something unknown.

But for the first time in a long time, Seungmin was willing to see where it might lead.

As their lips met again, the kiss was slow and filled with a quiet intensity, Seungmin allowed himself to fall—just a little. Into the uncertainty, into the unknown, and into Jisung.
