"JOUUUUULES!!!!" Addy yelled and ran towards me from across the grass.
"ADDDYYYY" I yelled back to her opening my arms for her to run into them. She leaped forward and hug me so tight.
"I missed you so much sissy." She giggled.
"I miss you too babes. Where's Daddy?" I asked.
"Right der!!" she pointed to my Dad walking over. My Dad for living in Ohio was pretty tan, so was I. He was young, he was only 38 my Mom and Dad had had me when they were young, hents such the large gap between Addy and I.
I set Addy down and walked towards my Dad. He wrapped me in a huge embrace "Daddy I missed you so much." I started to cry into his chest. "I missed you too sweetie. How have you been?" he asked stroking my hair. "Good, busy." he laughed. "Good you know Addy and I are so proud of you. Isn't that right?"
I let go of my Dad to look down at Addy. She just shook her head with a huge smile across her face.
"Ad you wanna give sissy the gift you got her?" Dad asked handing her a gift bag. Addy kept her smile and nodded again. She took thr bag from Dad and handed it to me.
"What's this?" I asked.
"OPEN IT!!!" she bounced.
I took out the tissue paper and found a black velvet box. I opened it up and found a gold ring with an inscription 'Always In Your Heart' and on the onside it said 'Love you forever Dad & Addy' I slipped it on my finger and held my hand out.
"DO YOU LIKE IT?!" Addy asked.
I started to cry more. "I love it Ad." I picked her up and hugged her and my Dad joining in on the hug. "I missed you guys so much."
"Are you gonna come home soon?" Addy asked.
"Yeah." I smiled. "Addy do you wanna go see David and Abby?" I asked.
"Yes please!!" she smiled.
We walked into the dorms and into my room where the pair was sitting on the couch in their pajamas. "Addy do you want to hang out with us while Sissy and Daddy go for a walk?" David asked.
"YES!!" she shouted.
This had been our plan. Addy had absolutley adored David and Abby and they adored her too so they were more than happy to watch her for a little while my Dad and I went to chat. Partly because I wasn't going to be seeing him until after I competed.
We walked out and started talking.
"So how are you holding up?" Dad asked slinging his arm around me.
"Ehh i've been alright. Can't stop thinking about Mom. I really wish she was here."
"Me too. She would be so proud of you honey. She always told me you were going to do big things and she was right, look at you. My daughter and Olympian and soon to be gold medalist."
"Woah Dad let's not get ahead of ourselves."
"O c'mon you know you can do it."
"I know I can but I don't want to get my hopes up, there's some tough competitiors out there."
"Don't think about them. Think about doing your best. Good things will come. I promise."
"Thanks pops!"
"No problem sweetie. So are you really going to come home after the games are done?"
"I think. I was talking to a new friend I made and I told him about how I've been avoiding home and he's inspired me to take the steps I need forward to come home and become comfortable there again."
