2 days, and Jade is still here with us. It's like torture, thinking at any given minute she could stop living. It's torture thinking that I'm going to lose my precious baby girl.
"How is she today?" Kris asked, sitting down next to me. Jade was sleeping soundly after being awake for a little bit for more tests. Tests, tests, tests. That's all the doctors are doing. Not trying to make her better, trying to save her. They say there is nothing they can do, but there has to be. There has to be.
"She's better. They said that after today we can take her home. That way, she'll at least be in a comfortable place. But she's going to be bed ridden. No moving too much, no running around. She'll be trapped, just like here," I ranted.
"At least she'll be at home," he said softly. I looked at him and nodded my head in agreement. "Are Zayn's friends coming to see her at all?"
"Once we're home, yes. They have a break starting tonight." Kris nodded instead of saying anything. We all know the chances. Jade may not make it that long. We just have a lot of hope that she does.
"Does she know anything?" Kris asked, keeping his eyes trained on me.
I shook my head. "The doctor said that she won't feel anything. She doesn't feel pain besides a head ache right now. He recommended we try to describe it to her, but she's two. How do you tell a two year old that she's dying?"
"Raven, at least tell her something. She's probably concerned by your voices. She might be two, but she's not dumb. She's a bright two year old, who understands a lot."
"I'll talk to Zayn about it, ok?" Kris nodded and looked around, raising an eyebrow. I guess that he was wondering where Zayn went, so I sighed. "Phone call, again."
"They should leave him alone," Kris muttered.
"I know, but I think this was his mother. She's flying out tomorrow." Kris's eyes widened. I nodded with a harsh chuckle. "I wasn't expecting to meet her under these circumstances."
"Life throws weird curve balls at you, sometimes. You just have to hope you hit it and get a homerun, or you'll get striked out," Kris tried to explain. I raised my eyebrows. He shrugged a shoulder and sighed, "I tried to help."
"You Americans and your weird sayings," I lightly laughed.
"No no, that's not an American saying. That's a Kris saying that always fails." We chuckled together, but it got cut off when Zayn entered the room.
Zayn knows what happened was an accident, but he doesn't like how Kris got out of it with only a few injuries. And that his baby girl is in a hospital bed, dying. It's not that Zayn wishes Kris would be in this position, he just doesn't think it's fair.
"Everything ok?" I asked. He nodded and sat down beside be on the couch, kissing my temple.
"Can I talk to you outside, Raven?" Zayn asked after an awkward moment. I nodded and looked at Jade one last time. He gripped my hand and led me outside of the room and towards the little grass area outside.
"My time's getting cut short, Ray," Zayn muttered as we walked.
"Your's isn't the only time being cut short," I whispered. Zayn let out a sigh and stopped me from continuing the walk. "I'm sorry."
"They want me back soon."
"They can fuck off!" I shouted. "They can't take you away from this. I need you, Jade needs you. We need you."
"Babe, I know. I told them that. They understand, but after the break, they want me to come back shortly after." He sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "I don't understand either, but we just have to go with it."
