"Mumma, I want my doll!" Jade screeched, her little arms extended to the book shelf, where I had set her favourite porcelain doll.
"Not until you apologise for hurting mummy." I crouched beside her time-out spot as she pouted.
"I'm sowwy, Mumma," she kissed my cheek. I let a smile spread on my lips. I stood up and brought the doll off the shelf and handed it to her.
"Don't hit Mumma with your dolls, ok?" She nodded. Her arms shot out and cradled the doll. "Now go! Go play!" I shooed her and straightened up the corner again.
"Is daddy comin'?" I shot her a look. First off, she speaks so maturely for being nearly over 1 years old. I'm shocked, but she is brilliant.
"Daddy? Who's daddy, Jade?" How does she know who her dad is?
"Daddy!" She pointed to the TV. I had an old interview going, since I felt the need to check up on Zayn. Why? I don't know. I shouldn't care, but of course, my heart yearns for this boy. He just doesn't know it yet.
"Who told you that, sugar?" I plunked down beside her on the floor. I started fiddling with a stuffed animal that had been one of many strewed across the floor.
"Dadda did, Mummy!" I felt somewhat weak. I didn't want her knowing yet. Not until we figured everything out. Or until I figured my feelings out.
"Mummy?" Jade tugged on my sleeve.
"I'm going to beat this boy," I muttered under my breath as I stood up. I waltzed over and grabbed my cell phone, dialing Zayn's number as I sat down on a bar stool. Soon enough, his voice came through the phone, a few other muffled voices joined in.
"Ello?"
"Zayn, we need to talk. Now," I spat through clenched teeth. He knew how I felt about Jade knowing that he's her father.
"Give me a second." It was silent for a moment before his voice rang through the speaker again. "What's going on? Is Jade alright? Are you alright?"
My heart skipped a beat at his thoughtfulness for me. -Shake it off, Raven.- "You told Jade?" I almost yelled. I craned my neck to look for Jade, who perked up at the sound of her name. I quieted down, hoping she wouldn't find an interest in listening to me. "I thought you understood that I don't want her knowing!"
"Ray, I-"
"Did you or did you not tell her?" I pushed. I pressed a fist to my forehead and leant on my elbow.
"Yes, but Raven please listen to me-"
I slammed my fist down. "Are you kidding me?" I quietly yelled, if possible. "Zayn, life's already confusing enough for her. Throw in the fact that you're famous and won't be here much? That's too much for her," I cried. I felt the tears silently fall from my eyes, the droplets hitting the tiled counter.
"Raven, I needed to tell her. She's little. She doesn't understand much. But please believe me when I say I want to be there for her. Understand that. I promise you, I will be there for her until you tell me no. I love Jade, Ray. Even if I have just met her." I felt a warm hug around my dangling legs. I peeked down and saw Jade hugging me. She looked up at me with her big brown eyes through her full eyelashes. I rubbed her head and nodded.
"I'm sorry, Zayn... For going out on you like that."
"Don't worry. I understood where you were coming from. But next time, please hear me out?"
"I promise," I spoke slowly.
"Mind if I come see Jade tonight?" I small smile broke onto my lips. I moved the phone away from my face quickly, tipping Jade's head up.
