Four days. It's been four days since Jade became an angel. I don't want to wake up in the morning, since I have nothing else to look forward to in the morning. That usual morning routine is no more. That usual night time routine wont happen again. I can't find myself to do anything anymore.
"Babe, it's time to go," Zayn said, poking his head into the bathroom. I nodded my head and looked into the mirror once again, seeing a ghost staring back. My hand found it's way to the gold chain hanging on my neck with Jade's baby ring looped onto it. She never wore it, but always treasured it. I will continue to do so.
I flicked the light off and walked out of my bedroom, my eyes falling on the closed door that leads to Jade's dark, quiet room. I don't like the fact that she had died in that room, but I'm glad she was comfortable and at home. I plan to convince Zayn to allow me to move out of here eventually, which I think, won't be too difficult. He hates walking passed that room just as much as me.
"I think you should come stay with me for a while, Raven," he suggested as he helped me slip on my blazer. "It'll be easier." I simply nodded my head and walked hand-in-hand down the apartment complex hallway with Zayn.
Zayn and I got into the back seat of the car as the driver began to head down the road. I had my head on the window, watching the buildings fly by. I wish life would fly as fast as those buildings. That way, I'd be able to see Jade, alive, again.
After 20 minutes, and a silent car ride, we were in the parking lot to the funeral home. The driver got out to open the doors, but I didn't move. Zayn unbuckled his seatbelt but stayed still as he waited for me to do the same with my seat belt.
"Raven?" He asked quietly.
"I'm not ready, Zayn," I replied with a cracked voice. "I can't see her. Not like this."
"I know, Ray, but we have to. There are people in there that need you to be strong for them and to show that everything will be alright. I need you to do that, for me." Zayn slid closer to me and brought me into his chest.
"I can't be strong anymore and it's only been four days," I whispered. "If I'm not strong now, I'll never be strong."
"You have to gain strength from the struggles of life, Ray." He pushed me away and kissed my gently. "Let's go in."
We both got out of the car, a group of paps clicking on their cameras from across the road. "I can't believe them," I grumbled.
"I know, just don't look at them," Zayn instructed. The doors to the funeral home opened as we approached them and we were soon greeted by a people.
"I'm sorry for your loss."
"How are you feeling?"
"She was a great young girl."
"I'm sorry."
"I'm sorry."
"I'm sorry."
I hate that. Being told sorry for something that can't be fixed. It wasn't anyone's fault that Jade died. It was an accident. Zayn and I silently accepted the apologies, though, knowing it was the polite thing to do.
Five familiar faces came towards us, all looking awfully upset. "Hey, guys," Zayn said, nodding his head. They all stayed silent, staring at Zayn and I. They knew that sorry wouldn't do anything. It would almost just make things worse, so they just hugged each of us, one by one.
After more and more greetings, including Zayn's mother, we all took our seats. We dicided to not make it an open casket. I would break down seeing her again, as still as stone.
