-Elunara POV-"Your highness you're looking well" said the voice I looked up to see Prince Galadorn, second prince of the 2nd generation and my father's only living brother.
The room was full of council members all standing around as if they were waiting for me to arrive, I looked over at my advisors who both looked just as confused as I was. I took a breath, well aware of what this is now just by the smug look on my uncles face, but I couldn't make a scene so I had to stay calm.
"Uncle, what a surprise I thought you were patrolling the borders with my eldest brother" I said with a scowl.
Why is he here I sent him far away for a reason. What is he playing at right now.
"Don't worry we did our jobs before coming back" he said with a grin one that seems to always make me uneasy. One of the last things my father told me on his death bed was not to trust his brother.
I'm yet to figure out why.
"We? Is my brother back as well?" I asked "He is but he had somewhere else to stop before he visits the palace, he sends his apologies" said my uncle.
Great another problem.
"Cut to it why did you rush back here, and why are there council members in my throne room who did not call an official meeting and make Me aware of it" I asked my uncle as I glared around at the elders around me, they all seem to avoid my eyes when I pointed out their mistake of not scheduling an official meeting with me.
This could be seen as then staging a coup against me, the punishment for such a thing is death and they know it which is why they look so scared.
"Can a man not visit his niece?" asked my uncle pulling my attention from the council members in the room. "I'm a busy woman I don't have time for surprise family reunions" I said coldly.
My uncle sighed before opening his mouth to speak again "Rumor has it you have been negotiating a peace agreement with the kingdom of Drakonia, amongst that agreement were also talks of marriage to one of the kingdom Princesses" he said.
"What of it" I asked wanting him to get to the point, he glared up at me "I had hoped those rumors were truly just rumors and that my niece wasn't incompetent enough to truly consider marrying a human" he said his voice growing a bit aggressive.
Now he was showing his true colors, everyone in the council started to mutter to one another. This was not something I made them aware of just yet and I wasn't planning on doing so until the engagement was official and I knew more about what Liora really is.
But he just messed that all up. What is he trying to do here undermine me? Or just make me look as if I'm hiding things from the elders.
"Watch Yourself Uncle" I said returning the same energy, he looked at me for a moment and it was a stare down but eventually I won and he cleared his throat before bowing.
"Of course your majesty forgive my rudeness" he said before his eyes landed on Liora who was standing by my side.
His gaze upon her made me uncomfortable so I stepped in front of her taking her out of his line of vision.
"Do not let it happen again" I said gaining his attention.
"Of course your majesty thank you" he said before lifting his head to look at me.
"The matter of who I marry is completely up to me, my father specified that when he handed over the crown to me" I pointed out.
"She's right the king did make it clear that she is to choose her partner" said one elder, "But to a human? Marriage between high elven and humans is unheard of" said another.
"She's from an enemy kingdom on top of that" another elder pointed out.
"Your highness I suggest you think more carefully about your decision" said my uncle, when he began to speak everyone went quiet.
"The high elven bloodline isn't something to be mixed or crossbreed, I think you should choose a different partner, one of pure elven blood" he said before stepping closer. I could hear the elders whispering to one another agreeing with him.
I clutched my fist as I stared him down, so he is trying to turn the council against me.
"Oh yeah? And who exactly did you have in mind" I asked sarcastically.
My uncle smirk before speaking.
"Me" he said
