Riwoo had always wished for his best friend, Chaerin, to like him more than just a friend. They'd been inseparable since childhood, sharing every laugh, secret, and tear. Chaerin was the light of his life-the kind of girl who didn't even realize the gravity of her own charm. As their friendship grew, so did Riwoo's feelings for her, silently shaping his hopes that, one day, she would see him as something more. But days turned into months, and those months became years, and nothing between them changed.
Chaerin, as sweet and oblivious as ever, went on dating other boys, talking to Riwoo about her heartbreaks and happy moments, unaware of the storm of emotions he held back whenever they had those late-night conversations. He listened patiently, always offering support, yet secretly aching for her to see him as more than just her loyal best friend.
It was on one of those particularly rainy evenings that Riwoo stumbled upon the diary.
He had been at an old bookstore, hoping to find something to distract himself from the ever-present ache of unrequited love. The shop was dimly lit, its shelves packed with leather-bound books that seemed older than time itself. As he wandered the aisles, a small, dusty tome caught his eye, its gold-embossed title faded with age. Without thinking, he reached for it.
The moment his fingers touched the cover, the book trembled slightly, as if alive. Startled, Riwoo almost dropped it, but curiosity won over his fear. He flipped open the diary, only to find the pages blank.
"That's odd," he muttered. As he was about to close it and put it back, a voice-light and sweet like a whisper on the wind-spoke.
"Looking for something?"
Riwoo jumped back, eyes wide. There, sitting atop the open pages, was a tiny fairy-no larger than his palm. Her wings shimmered with iridescent colors, and her tiny face wore a playful smile.
"Wh-who are you?" Riwoo stammered.
"I'm Y/n," the fairy replied, her voice musical. "The guardian of this diary."
Riwoo blinked, still unsure if he was dreaming. "A fairy? In a diary?"
Y/n chuckled, flying up to hover at eye level. "Yes, a diary fairy, to be precise. And you, dear Riwoo, have found me."
He was too stunned to question how she knew his name. "What... what do you do?"
Her smile widened. "I grant wishes. Well, sort of. You write something in the diary, and I help it come true."
A thought immediately surfaced in Riwoo's mind-Chaerin. If there was even the slightest chance this fairy could help him win her heart, he had to try.
"Can you make someone fall in love with me?" Riwoo asked, his voice barely a whisper, afraid to jinx the possibility.
Y/n tilted her head, her expression growing thoughtful. "Love is tricky," she said. "It's not something I can force... but I can certainly help guide someone's heart."
His heartbeat quickened. "Please," he begged, "help me make Chaerin fall in love with me."
Y/n hesitated for a moment before nodding. "Alright, write it down. I'll do what I can."
Riwoo's hands shook as he took out a pen and wrote in the diary, his heart pounding in his chest. I want Chaerin to love me. The ink glowed briefly before fading into the page. Y/n's wings fluttered as she hovered over the text, her magic beginning to weave its way into Riwoo's life.
