Cheerful congratulatory messages pass around the hall, in the happiness of Jung Inhye and Park Sungho's wedding. The sweet smell of the desserts fusing in the air with the flowers brought in this morning made her smile as Hyemi walked around with a glass of juice in her hand. She was looking for her bestfriend who should be here by now. But she bumps and notices the mess she made.
"I'm so sorry," she apologises looking up to the man in front of her. He shakes his head with a smile and takes off his ruined jacket, in which she spilled the juice. "The lighting is so dim, I totally missed you,"
"It's fine. Happens a lot in events," he replied politely, like getting his jacket ruined with drinks was an everyday thing. He hands the tuxedo to a waiter. loosening his neck tie he shoves the sleeves of his shirt up, adding, "and the lighting is perfect for the bride's entry." Something about the comment spoke of pride, which threw her off. "I'll pay for the dry cleaning of the jacket," she says.
"No worries. It's a happy day. Are you from the bride's side?" he changes the topic.
In such cases, Hyemi would be the first one to ignore men asking her personal questions. But something about this tall guy, with his splitted raven hair intrigued her. His fierce eyebrows, and pouty lips- a hand wrapped around his arm. "Do you know her jjuni?" A chirpy voice asked, honey dripping from the other girl's eyes as she stared at him.
So silly of you Hyemi, to think another man was falling for you.
Before the conversation could continue, the music changes, and she realises everyone has taken their seat. She quickly gives him an apologetic look for the jacket and dashes her way to Yejin who is prepared with her digital camera. The doors swung open, and the lights went dimmer except the one on the aisle-the spotlight.
"And here enters the bride, Jung Inhye." All eyes fell on her. She was glowing, her baby skin in a tint of red, a pretty smile on her face. She slowly walked beside her dad, Mr.Jung, hand in hand, her eyes focused on Sungho, like tears were already welling up. The soft murmur of the crowd hushed into awed silence, as if the very air held its breath in reverence.
Kang Hyemi, who usually gets emotional when it comes to her two best friends, should be focusing on Inhye's walk down the aisle. The way her gorgeous friend was looking at the groom. She should be glad that Inhye was able to find a man who loves her dearly. But her eyes were trailing down the 'jjuni' from earlier. A little spot of light shone down on him, as he stood there, clapping, all eyes going back and forth from the bride and groom.
His eyes then fell on her. Hyemi felt an estranged cough coming up to her throat and quickly turned away.
"Oh? Why are you so red?" Yejin asked. "This is not the look of endearment to our baby Inhye..."
Hwang Yejin, the girl who completely made Hyemi go nuts in the freshman year of highschool. Majorly for the part because she was Kang Taehyun's cousin; but the two grew closer eventually, matching each other's freak. She definitely knew all the expressions as her bsf for almost 10 years now.
"Shutup and take pictures of them," Hyemi hisses, clapping loudly as the couples exchange rings. Followed by all the other ceremonies, it ends with a kiss and all of the girls are asked to come on stage.
The classic flower bouquet tradition. Hyemi walks up to the stage among the crowd, clearly with no intention to catch it, she stands farther into a corner lazily standing with her hands crossed. On the other hand, she watched Yejin stand in the centre, quite enthusiastic about this ceremony as she pulled all her athletic poses with her off-shoulder mini dress.
