The rest of the evening passed by as Hyemi took out her best fits and Inhye helped her choose one. Throughout Hyemi also explained how she and Yeonjun had decided to fake engage for personal reasons. They ended up settling on a black dress, which she styled with a white shirt wrapped in front like a corset and her shoulder bare. They debated for five minutes over leaving her hair
down or tying it.
"Just ask him," Inhye said looking away from the camera and quickly pulling away her face mask, "I guess Sungho is back, Imma go spend time with my man now," she said giving a mischievous smile to her, "Do tell me how it goes! And tell Yejin and Tyun as quickly as possible, she'd feel bad finding out from someone else"
"Okies, love you byebye," Hyemi smiled back and cut off the call. Her heart dropped at the last comment Inhye had made. Wondering what Taehyun would feel if she told him that they were going to put on a fake engagement—that would break his heart. And Yejin who always shared all her worse and good slides with her, would feel betrayed. But this is all happening so quickly, it's hard to convince herself too.
There were still fifteen minutes left, which she spent making herself a cheese sandwich. Grabbing her purse and phone, she walked out of the apartment waiting for Yeonjun, who seemed to have already arrived. As soon as she stepped out, it finally hit her how cold autumn was, making her shiver as she quickly made her way to the car. Yeonjun got off and held open the door for her.
The car was warm and smelled of a mix of flowers like roses, lilies, jasmine and lavendars. She noticed a cute panda keychain hanging up, giving the chic black car a different persona. "That's cute," she pointed as he got back in.
He laughed, "Yeah? I don't know how I got this obsession of pandas back when I was seven,"
"It's cute fr,"
"You look cute too," he said after a beat.
Hyemi didn't know what to reply to the sudden compliment, she pulled her seat belt, secured it, and looked in front. "Thanks," she mumbled.
The drive was silently comforting, Yeonjun's playlist was unexpectedly similar to hers. She found herself tapping her toes to a few songs she heard for the first time. As she pointed out a few artists, he spoke about them passionately explaining how he expanded his playlist to different genres to find the best songs for events.
Her eyes landed on his hands, a midnight blue shirt, whose sleeves he had shoved up. A silver watch wrapped around, but his hands still seemed empty. Soon, they arrived at the mall. It was warmer in the parking lot and she was glad not to have to walk bare shoulder in the cold.
Yeonjun took his coat out from the back seat and with a few long strides he caught up to her and threw it on her shoulders. "I am sure there's a paparazzi following us," he said, "It's better if you are more comfortable,"
Hyemi nodded. "As long as I look good with your extra large coat," she joked entering the mall. Their shoulders slightly brushed, making her heart pace.
"Oh should I keep my hair down or up?" she asked inclining her head towards him. Walking beside him this close made her realize how tall he was.
He stopped in his tracks and turned towards her. He hummed staring at her face for a while and then leaned in running a hand through her hair and parting one side. He brought it in front and smiled, "This looks pretty," he said fixing the coat which he had lazily thrown on her.
Her cheeks burnt and she turned away, "let's go to a jewelry shop," she remarked walking ahead. Yeonjun smirked and followed her, a few steps behind as she led the way to a shop. She looked around till they reached where all the rings were displayed. A woman came forward asking if she could help them.
"Could you show me a men's ring?"
Not able to hold back his curiosity, Yeonjun asked, "Why do you want a men's ring?"
She took his hand and held it up, "In his size," she said to the woman. The woman smiled pulling a ring measurement tool and took his size. She then pulled out a few rings with cravings on them. Hyemi picked a simple rose gold ring and put it on his ring finger.
"We are finally engaged now," she smiled at him and then turned to the woman, "Please ring this up," she added giving her card.
"Why would you buy a ring for me?"
"I could ask the same," she shrugged showing her left hand, the stone reflecting the light. "We both should have rings."
Yeonjun smiled, turning his ring around, he grinned, "I accept your proposal, fiance~"
This earned a scoff from Hyemi, she hid her smile and walked around to look at the other collections the shop had till the woman processed the payment behind the counter. She felt a gaze on her and turned around, but it was just a bunch of high schoolers, with their boba drinks in their hand passing by the store. She turned to see Yeonjun staring at a necklace.
"The payment is done," the woman said pulling her back, and handed her a ring box.
"Thanks," she bowed and shoved the box into her bag. Yeonjun turned around, hands in his pockets, smiling, waiting for her to come. She walked forward and held his arm. "I think someone is following us,"
He smiled, tucking a loose strand behind her ear, "Should we put our good acting skills to use?"
Sungho and Inhye's POV
The door swung upon, the phone propped between his shoulder and ear, and one hand occupied with a flower bouquet and the other with the hotel key card. Inhye cut the phone and ran to him, crashing into his arms as he bid bye to whoever was on the other end of the call.
"Who was it?" she asked giving him a peck
on the cheek.
"Yeonjun, remember?" he says giving her the bouquet, her eyes lighting up against the colorful petals. "He was asking me for advice on what to do on a date,"
Inhye choked, holding in her laugh as she set down the bouquet on the coffee table, "Don't you think we are turning from cupids to couple counselors?" she grinned, mischievously raising her eyebrows.
"Wait, wdym?"
"Hyemi called me," she says sitting on the couch, "She wanted advice to dress up for her date—fiance I meant,"
"You mean...?" Sungho raises his eyebrows, sitting beside her, "They two are engaged? Choi Yeonjun is in love?"
"Dont know about that," she shrugs adding, "but my bsf is definitely in love, dressing up and all,"
Sungho runs a hand through his hair, giggling a little, confused at the same time as he tries to wrap the information around his head. "Enough talking about others, let's talk about us," he smirked, leaning further, his arms on her sides.
Inhye groans, trying to push him back, but his broad shoulders stay firm over her, "Babe, we will be late for our flight,"
"Hmmph let me recharge a little,"
