Taehyun and Sungho's conversation died midway, as they watched Hyemi walk out of her room, dawdling in the hanbok skirt.
"Whoa!" Taehyun exclaimed, "It's such a pretty color," he added, then gave a twirl showing off his own dress. It was a black hanbok, with white and golden embroidery work on its edges, and a white charm dangled down his waist. His long hair falling just below his neck, only added to the elegance of the costume.
"There comes my princess also," Sungho smiled. His cheeks blushing as he saw Inhye walk towards them. She was wearing a pink hanbok, and Hyemi realised the newlyweds were matching. Sungho's charm matched the flower on Inhye's dress.
Yejin stepped out of her room next, lifting her white skirt above her ankles. The struggle to walk in it was real, and the girl who typically zoomed around the office in her clacking heels was clearly struggling more than the others. As she stood beside Taehyun, smoothly slipping her arm into his, they looked like a pair of black-and-white swans.
Hyemi's gaze lingered on Yeonjun's room, her heart doing a little jump realising they might also have gotten matching hanboks if Yeon-soo had coordinated them.
"Ehh, we knocked but no reply," Sungho pointed, noticing her yearning gaze towards the door. "Maybe he is already down in the lounge,"
"Hmm, let's all go then!" Inhye joined, linking arms with her husband, "It's already seven, the festival has started,"
The group walked towards the elevator, talking about all the street foods that were gonna be there, their chatter echoing the hallway. Taesan, and Minji stormed out as well, crowding into the elevator. Hyemi stepped back, realising there was not enough room, especially with the girl's puffy skirts.
"You guys go ahead," she said holding back, "I'll join later,"
"Ya! Tie your ribbon also," Yejin pointed before the doors closed.
Hyemi glanced down to see the ribbon on her top hanging loose. With a sigh, she gently pulled the ends and tied them into a neat bow. She jabbed the elevator button, growing impatient to catch up with the others and finally meet Yeonjun after a whole day apart. The team had spent the morning and afternoon resting, taking a break from the work week. But now she was missing him a lot.
She stepped into the elevator, took a deep breath, and pressed the ground floor button. Just as the doors began to close, Yeonjun thrust his hand between them and stepped inside.
"Am I too late?" he huffed, catching his breath, a sly smile on his face.
She shook her head, scanning him up and down. He was wearing the same dark blue outfit as hers, but it looked disheveled.
"Did you go to war, young master?" she asked, shifting her tone.
"I fell asleep waiting for you guys," he explained, turning to the mirror to fix his hair. "I was so excited, I wore this right after Yeonsoo delivered the dresses earlier this morning."
Hyemi followed him too, turning back to the mirror with graceful movements. She could feel her feminine energy exude in the dress, than wanting to punch everyone in her office suits. She gathered her hair in a fist, gently pulling it up and securing it into a bun. Yeonjun's gaze followed her movements: she bit a rubber band around her wrist, taking it out and then using it to secure her bun neatly. Then she pulled out a few strands of hair, which fell on her sides.
"You are staring," she points, turning back and facing towards the door.
"It'd be a shame to not admire a pretty woman standing beside me," Yeonjun whispers, leaning close to her. The elevator door dings open and he flinches moving away and standing like a dignified civilian beside her.
