Nine months later

Knock knock.

Her eyes slowly flutter open to the knock on the door, adjusting to the bright sunlight flooding through the curtains. She looks beside her to see Yeonjun sleeping on his stomach, his hair a mess and warmly snuggled inside the blanket.

Her eyes widen as she hears another knock.

"Shit, wake up Yeonjun," she gently swats him on the back, pulling away the blanket. "I think it's Taehyun"

Lazily opening his eyes,he pulls the blanket over his head. "Hmm five minutes,"

She exhales, panicking, "No you've to hide he can't know you slept over here,"

"My love, we are getting married in like a week," Yeonjun mumbles, turning his back to her and dozing off again.Hyemi forcibly pulls off the cover and he obligingly listens to her getting up. Finding it quite absurd to hide the fact he slept over here last night after getting off work. Shouldn't she be a bit nice to him for spending the week going with her to boutiques and waiting hours for her to choose a dress.

Hyemi puts on a hoodie hiding her messy hair underneath it and walks out while Yeonjun goes to his usual hiding spot in her APT: the balcony. Except the weather is warmer now and he can survive in a tank top.

She quickly shoves Yeonjun's boots inside a cabin and answers the door. Taehyun pops up, with his happy smile and two meal boxes in his hands. "Made you breakfast!" he says cheerily, "I heard it's important for you to eat well so you don't look like a dead ghost in your wedding,"

Hyemi sighs with a faint smile. "Mom said isn't it?" His smile falters, lips pressing into a thin line. She scans the boxes in his hands and realises he didn't cook it. "And I bet she dropped these off too?"

Mrs. Kang

"If you guys really care so much about each other why don't you talk it out," he whines handing her the box and getting in. "Yejin said your bathroom light was glitching. Let me change it,"

"Oh it's already changedㅡ" she blurts.

"You did?" Taehyun's head turns surprised and almost mocking . "Wow finally matured now that you're getting married,"

"Okay leave me now," Hyemi whines, grabbing his arm and pulling him back to the door. "I have work to do,"

Taehyun roots in his place, with his baba eyes now widening, "I can help,"

"Go to your girlfriend, why are you bothering me?"

"We fought. I'm not apologising this time hmph!" He crosses his arms like a child. Hyemi rolls her eyes and has already seen this scene multiple times. He will be the first running back to her with flowers and getting clingy.

"You'll be meeting her at the hospital anyways,"

"I'll just go earlier and leave earlier," he says and leaves, not wanting to hear a lecture roll off again. Hyemi sighs, drained of dealing with this early in the morning. She goes back to her bedroom, and opens the balcony door.

Hyemi steps out onto the balcony, her soft steps muffled by the slight breeze carrying the scent of the river. Her eyes land on Yeonjun, his figure illuminated by the spring sunlight that makes the lines of his shoulders more defined in the sleeveless tank top. His grey sweatpants hang low on his hips, a casual contrast to the poised, businesslike man she's accustomed to.

He doesn't turn around, even though she knows he heard the door open. His gaze remains fixed ahead, pretending to ignore her presence. She smiles knowingly.
