Rosé
After my mother dropped me off, I looked at the school entrance. I can’t deny that it’s a beautiful and spacious place. That probably explains why there are people driving around in golf carts. When I researched the school online, I only saw pictures of the interior, so I didn’t grasp how massive it actually is. There's a big sign that says "Brandão Academy" on the first building, so I assume that’s where I need to go.
"Hey, are you new?" I heard a female voice as I walked toward the entrance.
I turned around. "Yeah, I am," I replied, spotting two girls—one brunette and one redhead.
"My name’s Judy, and this is my friend Ambar," the brunette said, extending her hand.
"I'm Rosé," I responded, feeling a bit nervous as I shook her hand.
"Is that your car?" Judy asked, pointing at my mom’s car as it drove away. "Was that your mom? She didn’t seem too fond of you, judging by those awful clothes she bought for you," she said with a look of fake pity. "But don’t worry, my friend and I know a lot about fashion."
I froze. I expected something like this, but definitely not so soon and not this harsh.
"Let’s have a bonfire and burn all the ugly clothes you brought," Ambar chimed in with a smirk. "You definitely need a new style."
Anger boiled inside me. I could easily punch this girl in the face, but I remembered my mother begging me to behave.
"Not that you’re one to talk," I shot back, turning to leave. "You’re probably 18 and already dress like my grandma going to church."
"You have the right to be ugly—own it!" Judy yelled after me as I hurried away.
I could have turned back and said a lot more, but I took a deep breath and stepped inside the building.
As soon as I entered the building, I saw a lot of people moving around. A bell rang, and suddenly everyone seemed to rush deeper into the building.
"Excuse me, where are you all going?" Feeling lost, I decided to ask a girl passing by.
She shot me a glare. "Wow, how stupid are you? We're going to the welcoming ceremony," she snapped, rolling her eyes and leaving me standing there.
"My God, am I not going to find a decent person in this school?" I muttered to myself.
I decided to skip the ceremony. I'd rather be alone in my room than surrounded by these kinds of people. So, I pulled out the map of the school to figure out where my room was.
