The ceremony was mind-numbingly boring, lasting about two hours. They just kept talking about how great of an opportunity it was to study here and how we should feel proud to be part of Brandão Academy. I couldn't help but think, How are we supposed to be proud of a school we pay to attend? It's not like we earned our spot here through merit or anything.

After listening to all that nonsense, I finally escaped to my room. I finished decorating my side, putting up my posters and arranging my anime figures on the desk and shelves. It felt more like home now. Just as I was settling in, I heard the door creak open. To my surprise, Judy, Amber, and another girl walked in.

"What the hell did you do in here?" the blonde girl snapped. From her voice, I recognized her as the same girl I'd heard earlier.

"I just added a little personality to this place. It was way too bland before," I replied casually.

"God, this can't be happening. Why did they put another girl in here? There are plenty of other empty rooms," Amber huffed, crossing her arms.

"If you're staying here, you'll need to take down those ugly posters. My room can't look like this," Judy said, inspecting herself in a hand mirror as she applied lipstick. "I don't know what you're used to, but here, we have rules."

"Like what?" I asked, feeling indignant.

"Like not messing up my room," she said, rolling her eyes dramatically.

"Did your dad buy the room for you?" I shot back. "If not, I can do whatever I want with my space."

"I don't have time to argue about this right now," Judy said, pointing at my posters. "But this is not how it's going to stay."

"You can't just do whatever you want at this school," the blonde girl-who I now remembered was called Sarah-added, stepping closer.

"And what if I do?" I asked, standing my ground as Sarah advanced toward me.

I didn't move. There was no way this preppy girl would lay a finger on me. She didn't have the guts. But the fact that she even tried to intimidate me made my blood boil. Unlike her, I'd actually enjoy punching someone in the face. She said nothing, just stared at me like she expected me to back down.

I glanced around the room and noticed the other girls had already lost interest, their eyes glued to their phones. A few more seconds passed before I realized that Sarah wasn't going to make a move, and I wasn't about to waste my whole day here.

"Move," I said, pushing Sarah aside as she stumbled back onto the bed. Without another word, I walked out the door.
