Sweet potato

Lucy sat at her desk filing paper work. Tim was in his office watching her. His eyes heavy he didn't have the motivation to complete everything. He looked at his desk clock. 30 minutes then he could leave. He was in a permanent state of exhaustion. He had been waking up lots in the night his mind worried about Lucy. She had processed so much these last few weeks and now she was back at work and on patrol. Tim's mind just thought about her constantly. He only wanted to keep her safe.
His eyes went back to Lucy. She made everything better. Her bump slightly bigger but if you didn't know she was pregnant it was hardly noticeable.
Her focus on the paperwork brows furrowing and the pen in her mouth.
Angela walked by
Hey babe she said
Lucy looked up hey you okay she said smiling.
Yep we were thinking of getting a drink after work if you and Tim want to join Jasper too. I'll message them but sounds lovely.
Tim watched their effortless interaction.
Lopez he said
Angela turned and walked into his office. What's up she asked
Have you responded to Wes' message grunting she left to get her phone. Tim laughed and walked up to Lucy what did she want he said looking at her. Lucy was glowing she looked stunning.
She wanted to invite us and jasper out for drinks tonight. Tim moaned. I fancied a quiet night in Luce I'm shattered. She smiled you can't be mr antisocial all the time. Why are you so tired babe?
Hey I'm going to jacks birthday party on the weekend. My social life is fine I don't know I guess I'm not sleeping well he said.
Rolling her eyes she went to the copy room trying growing a human babe then we'll talk . Tim laughed.

As the shift finished Tim felt his eyes heavy when he walked in to the pub with Lucy she smiled and waved to the group he pulled her in before they could reach them we need a code word she laughed and hit his chest playfully. Umm I can't think she said giggling. Sweet potato Tim said Lucy looked at him confused it's what our baby is the size of he said.
You're just a softy Lucy smiled.
I'm no softy Tim said go and sit I'll get us a drink.
The group was sat round chatting Tim came back placing his beer down and Lucy's drink down. Smiling she brought her drink to her lips taking a sip she moved the glass away from her lips. Tim I think this is gin. Tim's eyes widened in horror he took the glass from Lucy and tasted it.
Why did I get you gin placing his head in his hands. Are you okay he looked worriedly over a Lucy.
Mm-hm I only took a small sip pre pregnant  Lucy would've downed that in one she said laughing. I'm so sorry he said.  Clearly feeling awful
Hey you didn't mean to don't worry! Lucy said rubbing his arm. I'll go and get a soda water she said standing anyone want a free gin. Angela took it and started sipping.
Lucy walked over to the bar. 
Bradford you okay Angela asked. He nodded and put a small smile on his face.
Lucy came back and sat down. She saw Tim's leg moving up and down. She placed her hand on it. His movements started to slow. Jasper arrived giving everyone a hug. He went to join his other group of friends. As the night progressed the groups conversation flowed. Laughter high and glasses clinking. Everyone was joining in. Everyone except Tim he had been quiet for most of the evening.
Tim turned to Lucy I'm just got to get a bit of fresh air his hand gently touched her face.
Do you want me to come with you she asked.
No I'll be right outside okay. He stood up  and left.
Angela leaned forward is he ok she asked.
Lucy looked concerned. I'm not sure I'm going to give him two then join him.

After a couple of minutes Lucy stood up. I'm just gonna she said pointing to the door. Angela nodded.
Lucy walked outside.
Seeing Tim sitting on the wall she joined him.
Babe are you okay she said placing her arm around his shoulder.
I-I his words couldn't come out. Sensing this was bigger than just a normal fix it chat. Lucy put her arms around him and kissed his head.
Sweet potato she said. He nodded. Go wait by the truck I'm going to get my bag.
No I don't want to ruin your nigh-
You're not she said taking his face in her hands.  I only want to be with you. Go wait by the truck.
Nodding he stood up.
Lucy came back inside and picked up her bag. Ange we are going to head off okay. Jasper came over clearly merry. Where's T-dog he said. We are going to go J. Tim's had a day ok. Understanding his sister's seriousness. He nodded and gave her a hug.
Angela walked over what's wrong with him. Lucy shook her head I don't know but I know here isn't helping. See you sweetie. Placing a kiss on Angela's cheek. Ange smiled. Call if you need anything.
Lucy nodded see you Saturday. Waving to everyone she left.
Angela turned to Nyla Lucy is so good for him. Nyla nodded. James chimed in when we are chatting it's clear what an impact she's had on him. They are so good for each other.
