enola awoke with a gasp.she sat up in a panic but instantly regretted doing so as a deep pain ran through her body.
she hissed loudly in pain and layed back down on the bed.
she looked around the room.
sherlock's
god, sherlock is never going to let her finish this case now...
watson suddenly opened the door.
his eyes widened once he noticed it that she was awake.
"miss holmes,.. you're awake. i'll go get your brother." he hurried back out of the room.
sherlock soon came running in.
"enola..." his voice was soft but he quickly coughed to cover it.
"enola, are you feeling alright?" sherlock asked quietly.
"no sherlock, i was stabbed." enola said plainly.
"enola? enola... enola—" tewkesbury's voice was heard from out of the room before coming through the door.
his eyes laid on enola who was looking at him and he rushed towards her, sitting on the bed and grabbing her hand, gently caressing it.
"you're.... you're awake— i was so worried, i still am. are you alright? are you feeling any pain? are you still bleeding? does your head hurt—"
"tewkesbury! i'm alright! just a little pushback... but i'll start working on the case immediately." enola said simply as if she didn't have a stab wound.
tewkesbury and sherlock's eyes widened and they both gave each other a look.
"enola, you've just been stabbed! you're not seriously telling me you want to get back to working on the case immediately are you?" tewkesbury asked.
enola stayed silent, giving tewkesbury the answer.
"enola, no. you're done with this case. i'll take care of benjamin." sherlock said firmly.
enola's eyes widened.
"what?! no! im the one being chased after! i need to do this!" enola exclaimed.
she looked at tewkesbury for help but he just sighed.
"enola... i'm sorry, but... i agree with sherlock. i think he should... take over." tewkesbury said quietly.
enola shook her head with a scoff.
"tewkesbury, no. it's my case! it's my life! this isn't fair!"
"enola, you almost died!" tewkesbury finally exclaimed.
"you were almost murdered, and i can't live with that. i can't lose you. if sherlock taking over the case will keep you safe. i'll allow it. you can hate me but i will not be allowing you to get murdered." tewkesbury said in a stern tone.
enola let out a breath of frustration. "both of you out, leave me alone."
"enola—"
"GET OUT!"
and with that, they left.
-
5 days later
tewkesbury walked into one of sherlock's rooms, staring at enola who was laying down with her arms crossed, a angry look painted on her face.
tewkesbury frowned.
"enola... i brought you some tea..."
"leave me alone."
"enola..."
"it's been five whole days. and i'm just laying here like a damsel in distress waiting to be murdered!
"you're not going to get murdered—"
"i will if i keep staying here!"
"you're resting here cause you're not healed yet..." tewkesbury said quietly, looking down.
enola looked at him. kinda feeling bad about the way she's been acting, ignoring him the past few days.
"tewkesbury... i just—"
knock knock knock.
"sherlock, door!" tewkesbury exclaimed.
"i know, i hear!"
"well... you've got pretty similar personalities." tewkesbury joked.
enola giggled quietly.
"tewkesbury!" sherlock exclaimed.
"come here..."
tewkesbury gave a look to enola before going to see what sherlock wanted to show him.
he looked at the front door.
"oh my—"
enola came limping from her room, unbeknownst to tewksbury and sherlock.
enola covered her mouth in horror and let out a yelp.
a dead girl.
on the floor.
right in front of her.
enola gasped and ran towards the girl, fighting off the pain.
she checked for a pulse.
nothing.
enola let a breath escape her closed her eyes in utter shock.
enola then noticed a letter on the ground.
she slowly picked it up to read.
'do you think you can hide her from me? you think i haven't noticed how she isn't at her home? if you keep hiding her, innocents will die. just like this girl. it'd be much easier to just let me kill—'
sherlock grabbed the letter out of her hands.
"that's enough, tewkesbury take her back to bed."
"no! see! i have to fight him! i can't let him kill
these—""enola, we will figure it out just please... go back to—" tewkesbury tried to reason.
enola stomped her way to the room.
slamming the door shut.
tewkesbury winced at the noise.
"what do we do?" tewkesbury asked sherlock quietly.
sherlock shook his head. about to say something he never thought he'd say.
"i don't know."
