Dr. McCarthy stares at me, waiting for me to answer. I don't. I look at the clock, still twenty minutes left. Great.

"Tessa," his black eyes question me. "How is your relationship with Noah Phillips?" At this, my head snaps to his.

"What?" I ask.

"Your parents told me you two are getting close," he smiles, as if proud.

"What, no. He just can't take a hint," I cross my arms.

Dr. McCarthy sighs,"When are you going to get over your phobia, Tessa?"

I sigh. "Maybe never? I don't know." I look at him. "Maybe I'm okay with dying alone."

"No one should die alone," he looks at me with pity, which I hate.

I roll my eyes.

"I don't know what you don't get," I say, clearly catching him off guard,"I was raped, Doctor. I don't trust anyone. Let alone boys."

He writes something down and I moan out of frustration. "Tessa, what about friends?"

I look at him. "What about them?"

"Have you made any yet?" He looks at me expectingly. I nod no. He sighs.

Ten minutes.

For a good minute, he just studies me. Which makes me extremely uncomfortable. I squirm.

"You know, I don't really need any friends," I say matter-of-fairly.

"So school is coming up," he changes the subject,"I hear it's your senior year."

"You heard right."

"Tessa, I want you to make new friends, maybe a relationship with this Noah," I shift uncomfortably when I hear his name. But I'm not sure why he has that affect on me.

"Why?"

"So you can be happy," he leans in,"and between you and me, drink a little, have fun."

I laugh.

"Well," Dr. McCarthy gets up from his seat,"looks like our time is up." I get up too.

"Have a nice night, Tessa," I nod and exit the room.

I opened the door to my house and was greeted by my mother.

"So, how was it?" She smiles.

"It was great!" I say with sarcasm,"Dr. McCarthy and I laughed about everything that's ever happened to me!" I roll my eyes and climb up the stairs to my room.

"I'm going to the beach for a swim," I shout to my mother. Swimming really calmed my mind.

"You should just swim in the pool, it's too dark outside."

"I'll be fine," I shut my door and change into my black bikini.

Noah

I stare at the ocean from my room. I see a figure running to the water. Then I realize, it's Tessa.

I take her body in, even though she's far away, I'm very aware of her hips. She dives into the water.

An idea overcomes me. I quickly take off my shirt and change into swim shorts.

I run out side and sprint to the beach. I slow down when I get closer.

She turns and sees me. I pretend I can't see her and walk the shoreline.

After probably ten seconds of her staring at me I speak up. "Nice view is it?"

"What?" She asks.

"The sunset," I smile.

She swims towards me until she's standing next to me. I stare at her, she is wearing a black two piece, making her hair seem darker. She stares at me and I look into her eyes. I can tell that she's been hurt before. I don't know from what though.

I have this feeling that makes me want to fix her, make her happy. But I'm unsure why.
