Summer past in a blur. Therapy, talking to my parent's friends, sometimes catching Noah at his parent's parties.
So when my alarm went off signaling that it was the first day of school, I groaned.
I get up, shower and get dressed, eat, etc. After pulling my skirt down (which I hate, uniforms suck), I was out the door, not bothering to say bye to my parents.
I pulled in, earphones in my ears, and spotted Noah, a short blond girl flirting with him. He glances and sees me. I look away, blushing and get out of the car. I look at my schedule as I'm not a vampire by Falling in Reverse blasted in my ears.
I reach my locker, thank god it's a top, and start putting my stuff away. I look around and see kids hurrying to classes. I checked my phone.
Shit! I'm already two minutes late.
I ran to first period and while turning off my music, I slam straight into someone.
"Fuck!" A girls voice yelps as we tumble to the floor. I groan and try to put a name on the face that I slammed into.
I see it's Vanessa Gram, the schools bad-girl. I've always stayed away from her. Her pierced lip and tattoos scare the crap out of me.
She looks at me too, amusement in her eyes. "Hey, it's the famous Tessa Blackwell," she smiles.
I stare at her black eyes and her dark skin, trying to take in what she just said. "The?" I stand up.
"Ya know, good-girl of the school?" She laughs. She glances at me, making me uncomfortable. "Class started five minutes ago, shouldn't you be there?"
I look at the clock above the lockers. And sure enough, I was five minutes late on the first day of my first class. Crap.
"I gotta go!" I grab my bag and run. "Sorry by the way!"
She laughs.
I burst through the door, looking like a mess. The class turns to me, making me stand still. One girl smirks. I look around and settle on a boy. Noah. He holds my gaze.
Crap, I forgot we had like five classes together.
"Hello," an angry voice booms, making me separate the eye contact.
"Hi-"
"Why are you late?" Mr. O'Donnell, my science teacher crosses his arms in disapproval.
"I got into an incident," a boy laughs and I blush.
"What's your name, young lady?" His bald head shines and I cover my laugh with a cough.
"T-Theresa Blackwell," I stutter, nervous under his gaze. I want to disappear from this nightmare.
His face lights up when he hears my last name, all teachers do. Considering my parents pay a lot of money to this school.
"Welcome, please have a seat," he points to the seat in front of Noah. I look at my lab partner and see a young boy with blonde hair and black eyes.
I sit down, feeling Noah's eyes on me. I shift and put my bag down.
"As I was saying," Mr. O'Donnell continues his speech.
"Hi, I'm Jacob," he hold his hand out. I stare at it, uncomfortable with touching boys. After a small debate, I shake his hand.
"Tessa," I offer a fake smile.
"Well Tessa, can I just say," he hold his hand to his lips and kisses my hand, making me shiver.
Noah coughs loudly behind me and I snatch my hand away. Jacob glares at Noah and Noah pretends to be paying attention to the teacher.

I sit at lunch alone, considering everyone I meet I flinch at their touch. I plug in my earphones and turn on Twenty One Pilots. I open Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare and start to read.
Deep into the book, someone rips my earphones out of my ears. "Hey!" I look up at the face, finding Vanessa.
She frowns,"Two things. One, how the hell can you read and listen to music at the same time? And two, those guys over there are totally checking you out."
I look at the table she's looking at, and find twelve guys winking and smiling at me. I frown. And in the corner I see them laughing and shaking a figure who is blushing and looking down. It's Noah.
I look back at Vanessa,"One, I don't know, just like to. And two, they'll get over me soon, it's not hard." Her eyebrows shoot up.
I stand up, no longer hungry. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I would like to read in peace."
She puts her hands up in defeat. I walk away, just as the bell rings, signaling me to go to art class, which I have with Noah.

Noah
I frown at the bowl of fruit. Why does every art class I take start with drawing a bowl of fruit, it's pointless and basic.
I glance over at Tessa, sitting next to me. She doesn't seem to notice me, she listening to Mrs. Blane's every word.
It was embarrassing at lunch today, my friends all were signaling her when they saw me staring, which I wasn't. But I did see her with Vanessa Gram, which isn't a good idea. The girl has been arrested multiple times.
"Noah Phillips, there is no daydreaming in class, since you are so bored, I'll let you present your drawing to the class before the bell."
I suppress a moan.
I draw, forgetting everything around me. I catch how the fruits touch, every corner sitting still. I get so lost, I almost didn't hear Mrs. Blane call me to the front.
I get up, and find some girls gigging at me. At first I thought it was because I was embarrassed but then I hear the brown-eyed one whisper "He's so hot," to the other.
I get to the front and glance at Tessa. She is looking at me, and I stare into her neon-green eyes, getting lost.
"Please, turn the paper around," Mrs. Blane says, smiling, clearly she didn't know I've won awards with my art.
I turn over my paper and smirk at her. She stares. I didn't know why people care about fruit, but it gets me a good grade, so I don't care.
The bell rings and I get my things. I see that Tessa left. I sigh and continue the rest of my day.
