I woke up to the sound of my alarm. I groan. I deeply regretted going to a midnight show on a school night. I got dressed and headed downstairs for breakfast.

When Miss Wilson, our maid, put down my breakfast (pancakes with a lot of fruit on the side) my parents were there smiling at me.

I chew and swallow. "Yes?"

"You and Noah are becoming close?" My father asks.

"It's so nice to see you bloom out of your depression!" My mother smiles, sipping her coffee.

"I wasn't depressed, I was raped," I correct her, making her flinch. "And no, what makes you think that?"

"Noah's parents told us you two went on a date!" My mother shrieks, overjoyed. I roll my eyes, drinking my milk.

"I was forced by Vanessa, not a date." I sigh, tired of talking. "I'm gonna go."

"Just to let you know!" My mother yells after me. "I ship you guys!"

"Don't ever say that," I slam the door.

I walk outside, to find Vanessa smoking in her car, waiting for me.

I frown,"You do know I have a car to get to school, right?"

"Sure, but morning drives are nice," she starts the car, motioning for me to sit next to her. I sigh and climb into her jeep.

She's silent most of the drive. "What's wrong?" I turn to her.

"What do you mean?" She doesn't look at me.

"You clearly wanted to talk. So talk," I demand.

She pulls over.

"Aaron just wants to be fuck-buddies, it sucks," she breathes out smoke when she talks.

"Isn't that what you wanted too?" I ask.

"Yeah- no. I don't know," she sighs.

I look at her. I see that she wasn't wearing makeup or nice cloths, like she usually does. "Friends with benefits never works out."

"You're right, let's go." She starts the car and we drive to school.

I shut my locker and turn, bumping into Noah. My eyes grow big. His hair is messed up, making him look like a supermodel, and his cologne smells really good.

"Hey," he smiles, his minty breath stinging my nose.

I can't help but notice how close we were. My forehead inches from his lips. His lips. I snap out of my daze. "Hi," I look down. I hear the bell ring and see students rushing to class.

One kid slams Noah into me, pushing us into the lockers. His arms are next to my head, his face inches from mine.

I look up, finding his big blue eyes staring into mine. I can't breathe. He leans in, my eyes wide, not moving.

His lips brush mine, then he stops. My heart starts to beat again, making me take a sharp breathe in. He pulls away.

"S-Sorry, let's go to art."

I nod.

"How are you?" Dr. McCarthy asks me, eyebrows raised.

"I don't know," I say truthfully.

"What do you mean by that?"

"I mean I don't know how I am," I say.

"Is this about that boy, Noah?" I don't answer.

"Did he do anything to hurt you?" He sits on the edge of his chair.

"No, just, I'm kinda confused, I guess," I squirm, uncomfortable.

"Why is that?"

I sand up, furious. "Because maybe I like him! But I can't stand the idea of liking a guy when all they want is sex!" I scream, hands clenched and shaking. Dr. McCarthy didn't flinch.

"Is he nice?" Is all he says.

"Yes, that's what sucks," I sit down. "I'm not used to nice guys."

"I think you should go for him," his black eyes look at me, as if it's the best idea he's ever had. "You deserve happiness."

"Well, in order to be happy, I think I shouldn't put myself in a situation that might brake me," I slouch in my chair.

"That is true, Theresa, but the risk might be worth it, think outside the box."

I don't know what to say. I like being in the box, away from trouble. Box up my feelings and stay safe, away from reality.

I don't talk for the rest of the session, just avoid his eyes, that are staring holes into my head.
