Slamming blue and orange onto my canvas, I think of her. Mixing the colors, making gray. Swiftly but quickly, I move my brush, making me trees and a moon.
Water and rocks. A series of swirls of orange and blue colliding. I've been working for hours. I step back, gazing at my work, smiling, I take a picture.
"Noah!" My mother screams from downstairs. I freeze.
I throw off my tank top that's covered with paint and run downstairs.
"Yes?" I say nervously.
"Well, put on a shirt, we are having company soon," she smiles. "Theresa and her family."
I gulp. "Uh, what time?" The doorbell rings. I run upstairs, do my hair and throw on a shirt.
Macy passes me in the hallway, scowling when see she's Tessa. I ignore her and walk downstairs.
My parents are already talking to her, clearly making her uncomfortable.
"Well, shall we leave then?" My mother asks.
"What?" I say, and all there heads turn to me. I avoid Tessa's eyes. "We're leaving?"
Mr. Blackwell laughs. "No, just us parents, you guys are staying."
Tessa seems shocked too. She whispers something in her mother's ear and she scolds Tessa.
"Well, let's be in our way," my mother and father close the door, leaving Tessa and I alone.
"Hey," I smile.
"Hi." We stood there for a couple seconds in awkward silence, when my sister comes down.
"Oh, great, are you two gonna do it?" She laughs,"I'll be on my way then!"
She walks out the door.
"Can we talk?" She looks at me and nods. I get closer and she takes a step back.
"Tessa, did I do anything at all to hurt you? I'm so sorry if I was too close when we-"
"What do you want from me?" She raises her voice, looking at me.
"What?"
"You're always acting like we're friends and then you try to kiss me, so what is it?"
"I want to be in your presence all the time, so friends?" I ask. Of course, I want to be more than friends, I want to hold her hand and kiss her, but I cannot. I must gain her trust first.
She nods.
I smile. "What kind of wine do you like?"
She smiles in return.

We are both drunk, laughing at a horror movie, I don't know what it's called, but it's pretty pathetic.
"Why the fuck is he walking to the sound!" Tessa giggles, making me laughs extremely hard.
I take another chug of wine, laughing. So far, we had three red wines, and two chocolate bars each.
"HAHAHHA!" Tessa laughs when she sees a guy trip down the stairs. I laugh pretty hard too.
Then, she gets quiet. I try to see what she sees, it's a man raping a young girl. I see tears fall down her eyes.
"Are you alright?" I slur, still drunk. I put an arm around her and she flinches, but eventually leans into me.
"Fine," she stammers. "Are you hungry?"
"Maybe for some treats," I shrug.
"Let's make some cake," she says.
"Yes!"I agree. "How about strawberry, my favorite."
"And red velvet," her eyes grow wide.
We run downstairs, I trip and fall on Tessa from being drunk.
Luckily, my arms stopped me, causing me to be inches from her lips. Her lips.
"I'm hungry," she whispers.
I laugh and get up.
After making a huge mess, cake batter everywhere, including our faces, we were sitting on the couch, sobering up, and eating cake.
The doorbell rings, making Tessa and I jump.
"Shit!" I yell. The kitchen was horrid.
I open the door slowly.
Mine and Tessa's parents are laughing. They see Tessa and I and stand there, shocked.
"Um," I try to talk normally, but I slur the words. "We made a cake or two."
