We are one the road now, I called Aaron and found out he managed to drive home. To my shock Vanessa was the girl he snuck off with and she was fine too.
Tessa didn't talk much. But I can still feel her body pressed against mine. The way she would shiver under my touch. I remember the smell of lime, mint, and sweat on her neck. I smile at the thought.
She glanced at me every once in a while. I pretended not to notice. But when she look ahead, I would look at her too, fascinated by her. Her hair was a mess, but it wasn't bad. At least, not on her.
"How long?" She complained.
"Ten miles," I reply. I can see the disappointment in her eyes.
Neither of our phones had signal, so we couldn't call a taxi or out drivers. It was already midnight. I don't know how I was going to explain this to my parents.
"What are your parents going to say?" I look at her.
She glances at me,"Probably something like, 'Tessa! I'm so very proud of you for having fun, but next time text us when you are going to stay past midnight!'" She laughs.
"You're serious?" I'm shocked,"Your parents would be happy?" She nods and I raise my eyebrows in awe.
BANG!
Thunder roars in the sky and lightning shoots down deep into the woods. Tessa yelps. I look around, desperate for a cabin, but I knew there wouldn't be one.
In the distance, I see flashing lights. I stop Tessa, afraid it's the cops again, but to my luck, our luck, it's a motel. Now, why they have a motel in the middle of nowhere, I'm not sure, but I sigh in relief and laugh.
Tessa sees it too, and laughs with me. Rain starts poring down. I see her shiver and take my jacket off, wrapping it around her shoulders.
She looks at me.
We stay like that, in the rain. Me holding the jacket together for her, looking into her neon-green eyes, and her, gazing into my blue ones.
Thunder makes us jump, and we run again in silence to the motel.

I open the wooden door for Tessa. It is a horrid-looking building, so old I'm surprised it didn't cave in on us when I opened the door to the entrance.
An old man with hazel eyes and gray hair is sitting at a counter. Well, a wooden table, to be exact.
"Hi folks, what can I do for you?" His yellow teeth smile.
"Hello sir, two rooms please?"
"Sorry folks, only got one," he spits. "Some bride and groom with a bunch of other people came after taking pictures. They also er stuck in this here storm." He motions to the storm outside.
I look at Tessa and she shrugs. "We'll take it." She smiles, getting out cash from her bra. What an odd place to keep it.
"I got it," I say, paying the man.
"Here ya go, you two are a lovely couple by the way," he smiles and Tessa's face turns red.
"No!" We both say at the same time.
He laughs and hands us a brown key.
***
We enter the room, my mouth dropped open. The door creaks when you look at it. The furniture looks as if it was from the fifteenth century. And not in a good way. The lights flickered on and of, and the bathroom had moss growing in the shower.
