It tears me up
I try to hold on, but it hurts too much
I try to forgive, but it's not enough to make it all okay. You can't play on broken strings
You can't feel anything that your heart don't want to feel
I can't tell you something that ain't real
Oh the truth hurts
And lies worse
How can I give anymore
When I love you a little less than beforeBroken Strings | James Morrison ft. Nelly Furtado

A few days had passed since Rowan had daggered Elijah, giving her time to deliberate over how best to work with the Salvatores. With Elijah now out of the picture and unable to interfere with her plans for Klaus, Rowan had taken it upon herself to assume leadership over protecting Elena. She knew that she had to re-establish trust between herself and the Salvatores after the Elijah incident, and so she made her way to the Boarding House with the intent of laying down some ground rules.
"Good morning." She announced as she flounced into the room, carrying several bags with her.
"What are you doing?" Damon questioned with a quirked brow.
"Now that Elijah's gone, I think it's time we sat down and discussed how best to approach this situation." She parked herself down on the couch, letting the bags flop onto the ground. "I think it best that instead of working against each other, this time we try a united approach."
"Work together? After Elijah -"
"I had nothing to do with Elijah's plan. Had I known earlier that he intended to have Elena die, I never would have agreed to work with him. I think we should carry on as before. I'll protect Elena, and allow you to do the same. Everyone on her list from before will remain under my protection, you have my word. But after some time observing how easily you get into trouble, I've decided that I need to keep Elena under closer supervision."
"Oh really?"
"Really. That's why I'm moving in here - just until we get Klaus." She added, seeing him open his mouth.
Damon narrowed his eyes. "Sure, just invite yourself to live here."
"It's for the best."
"And for how long?"
"My guess... Klaus will be here by the next full moon."
"You're kidding me, that's less than a month away."
