Eleven

"I see. So that's what happened." said the Itachi.

He sat at his desk in an armchair with Naruto sitting across him.

"Yes." said Naruto. "I don't want to put (Name)'s life in danger. We have to locate them fast."

Itachi exhaled and furrowed his brows, deep in thought. He spun his chair to face the window behind him, which of course, had the blinds drawn. Itachi couldn't afford to be seen when he was supposed to be dead.

He had therefore set up his base in a very old building on the outskirts of town. There was no one there, except him. He worked for a criminal organisation, the Akatsuki, and handled his matters from there.

The room had never seen sunlight. The windows were always closed, and the blinds were drawn. During the night time, a dim lamp would illuminate it, if ever Itachi was up working.

He carefully chose a room facing away from the road, leaving out any chances of being spotted by people. Itachi, himself, had not left the building in years. Somebody from the organisation would come in every week and provide him with enough to survive for the week.

"It will take at least a day." said Itachi, turning back to face Naruto.

Naruto slammed his fists on the desk. "That's not good enough ! Do you realize that (Name) could be killed ?! How can you be so calm ?!" he yelled at Itachi.

But Itachi remained calm as ever.

"Calm down, Naruto. I know my brother. He wouldn't act so soon." said Itachi. "That is, unless (Name) provokes him to."

"(Name) won't." said Naruto. "I know her. She won't do anything. She can't do anything."

"You seem to trust her very much for someone you just recently crossed paths with." said Itachi.

"I understood what kind of a person she is just by that." said Naruto. "What's happening to her right now is our fault, because we didn't stop Sasuke when we should have. If she dies, it will be our fault, and Sasuke would have wiped out an entire family."

Itachi looked up at Naruto. "Sasuke deserves to be taught a lesson. He should have learnt from his past mistakes to not repeat such a grave thing again. It is, indeed, our fault that we let him off the hook." he said. "I suppose you'll be assisting us on this, Naruto ?" he asked.

"Yes ! Believe it !" said Naruto, slamming his fist on his chest. "I'll do anything to protect (Name)."

"Good." said Itachi, as he dialled a number on the telephone.

"Be here by tonight." he said, to the person on the other side of the line. "This is very urgent."

Saying thus, he ended the call and looked at Naruto. He asked him to sit down.

"We're going to need your help to track down Sasuke." said Itachi. "Do you have any idea where he could be ? Even a slightest suspicion is alright, but think."

Naruto looked down at his lap and thought very hard of the places where Sasuke could go. He could be anywhere.

"There's the Uchiha farmhouse." said Naruto, after thinking for some while. "I know that place has been empty for years, but doesn't that make it a good option for him ?"

"You have a point." said Itachi. "Although, I believe my brother wouldn't go there. As it is a part of the Uchiha's property, there are chances of it being searched."

Naruto frowned.

"But," said Itachi. "If I remember correctly, it has a hidden base, under the plot, where we hid weapons for an emergency. He may go there for that. I'm sure that he has figured out by now that we're on his tail, and he'll need something to protect himself."

"We'll search the place, Naruto." said Itachi.

Naruto smiled widely. "When are we leaving ?" he asked, impatiently. "We have to hurry if we want to save (Name)."

Itachi looked at Naruto indifferently and asked him to sit back down.

"Let's wait till everyone comes." he said. "We'll need more men to take down that pschycopath of a brother I have."
