Chapter 57
I pause near the large doors leading into the house, my hand lingering on the handle. A deep breath leaves my throat as I turn my head around once again, not to see the car that's going downhill but instead to see the pathway that's heading towards the garden.
The rain is falling, the drops of water splashing onto the ground. It's heavy and cold. My hair gets drenched in only a matter of a few seconds as I take the muddy path to the garden. The trees sway with the wind, and the branches rustle together, creating a loud noise that echoes around the area. Everything is wet and slippery as I walk further into the garden and toward the shaded bench.
I see him there, waiting for me. He sits alone with his back against the bench and his legs folded. I walk towards him, wondering if he's upset or not. I don't know how much he heard, or if he heard anything at all. He seems a little distressed, but then again, so do I.
A small smile stretches on my face as I reach him. His legs unfold and I stand on the gap between them. My gaze lowers onto him as his head rises up to meet my eyes. Water drips from my hair and onto the ground, and it gets colder, but I can't feel it, not anymore.
"You didn't go with her?" He asks me while placing his hands behind my hips.
I reach closer and then shake my head. "No, I didn't want to."
His hands pull me closer and he leans forward, "Why not?"
I look at him for a second before averting my gaze. It's all silent between us. My mind goes back to the conversation I just had with my mother.
"Because I realized something."
Zade cocks a brow up, "And that is?"
My knees bend and I place them on either side of his legs as I straddle him. My arms come around his neck, "I'm utterly obsessed with you, Zade. Nothing can change that." I say with a little giggle, feeling myself relax as my forehead comes to press against his.
His hands tighten around me in a possessive way and he pulls me closer to him. The light returns onto his face and it almost feels like nothing has happened.
"Oh yeah?" His lips tilt upwards and my heart does a little flip in my chest.
I smile at him while my fingers run through his soft hair. The coldness of the air is getting to me now that I'm near him and soaked in the rainwater. My body shivers and he notices. His arms move me closer to him, wrapping me around his heat.
"I hope you know that I'll do anything to make you stay with me, Aurora," He murmurs. "Anything."
"And I hope you know I would never want to leave."
"I don't think I could ever let you go again," His breath fans over my cheek and he leans closer. "Even if you wanted to, I'd be right behind you, watching over you and then I'll take you away. Because I'm a selfish man, Aurora, and I want to keep you to myself. You can hate me for it, but that's the kind of man I am."
His words don't frighten me, not even a bit. Instead, his words bring a sense of comfort. The corner of my lips twitch and I lean in even closer to him, "That's perfectly alright with me," I whisper before capturing his lips on mine.
His fingers curl around my wet hair, pulling onto a few strands before he breaks the kiss. "I'm serious about this,"
I know.
Zade doesn't bluffs. He means his words, he always does, but I'm fine with it. It's almost amusing to me.
"I want you, so badly, in every fucking way possible, Aurora. The thought of you drives me crazy and yet it calms me down, like it's meant to be and nothing could ever compare to it. You don't know how many times I have imagined having you all to myself." His voice lowers and my heart starts hammering in my chest.
