Chapter 60

By the next morning, everything seems to be well. Zade has kept himself occupied for most of the day. On the other hand, Estella's preparing the house for a small gathering that's going to take place tomorrow evening.

I've never seen her so happy about hosting a gathering before, but now she's practically beaming with excitement. It almost feels like the party is hers, but Zade did ask her to do it. The ballroom opens up. It's the first time I've seen it in all my time staying here. It's beautiful, large, and decorated to the core. The floors shine under the lights, and the tablecloths look stunning.

There are flowers everywhere, placed neatly on each table, and it even looks like it's real. Estella and a couple of maids move around, decorating it. It's fascinating to watch them move and fix every detail. I try to help a couple of times, but she doesn't let me do much.

I sit nearby instead, watching them as they work.

It's late evening by the time Estella finishes setting up the decorations. She lets the maids leave and stays with me, sitting at the table. With a heavy sigh, she leans back on the chair and then looks at me with tired eyes.

"Everything is ready, now I just need to figure out what needs to be done for dinner. There's still a lot of time left." She mutters while stretching her arms over the table.

I glance around, admiring all the work she's put into decorating the entire ballroom.

"You've done a great job," I say, looking back at Estella. "It looks wonderful."

"I hope Zade approves as well, but then again, he wouldn't mind how it's arranged as long as everything is in order." She sighs.

"He'll surely like it." I assure her.

"Well, you've met him. If anything doesn't satisfy his liking, he can get rather grumpy. But don't mind him, he's always like that. He can be a little demanding sometimes." Estella explains, chuckling.

"You don't have to explain. I'm used to it." I reply, knowing too well how Zade can get when something doesn't go the way he wants.

We step out of the ballroom, leaving it finally. The rest of the evening, Estella leaves me alone and I head into the shower to kill some time. Tomorrow's going to be a big day. There are going to be a lot of vampires and werewolves in this house, most of which I've never seen. It makes me a little nervous, especially with the last encounter I had with one of the district vampires. It's a little terrifying to even think about it.

As the water drips over my hair, I let out a sigh and close my eyes. The water is a little warmer than usual tonight, and I find myself relaxing under it. It soothes my nerves, relieving all the stress. My fingers run through my wet hair and my mind wanders over tomorrow evening.

I'll be meeting Zade's guests. People. Vampires and werewolves. I take a deep breath and try to clear my head of all the worries. Everything is going to be fine. It's just one night.

"Mind if I join you?" His voice startles me from behind and my eyes snap open.

Zade stands at the door of the shower, looking at me with his brows raised. I shake my head and turn around to let him get in.

He strips off his clothes and throws it to the side before joining me under the warm water. I watch him as he tilts his head back, letting the water hit his face and slide down his body. My eyes trace over the drops on his skin while his hands move over his hair, pushing it back.

He steps in closer and wraps his arm around my waist before pulling me towards him. A gasp leaves my throat and my hand comes to his chest while my eyes meet his.

"Did you miss me today?" He asks and I find myself nodding.

A smile stretches on his lips before he leans in to kiss me. My fingers curl around his hair, tugging onto the wet strands before he moves my body backward under the warm water. It falls all over us, making my heart race in my chest. My back touches the cold tile while his lips move down my neck and over my collarbone.

My fingers curl around his wet strands tight as he pulls me against him. His teeth graze over my skin and my heart hammers in my chest while I tilt my head a little back. The need to have his mark overwhelms me and I close my eyes. His tongue runs over my pulse before his mouth comes back up to my throat.

"Do it," I breathe out, urging him. "Mark me."

His tongue slides over my skin once again before he looks back up to meet my gaze. Our eyes meet for a brief moment, and the desire I see in his eyes is more than enough for me to hold onto him, tight.

"I can't, Aurora." He says. "I want to, but I can't."

Zade's hands slide over my sides before coming to my lower back.

I heave in a breath and say, "But I—"

Before I finish, his mouth is on mine again. His lips crush against me, and his hands pull me against him. My fingers tangle into his hair as his tongue slides over mine, tasting me. A tempting growl leaves his throat and his hands move down my body before cupping my ass. His hand wraps around my neck softly, his thumb pressing on my chin, holding me in place while I kiss him back.

Our skin is slippery and wet under the water. He breaks the kiss and his eyes meet mine. There's a gleam in his eyes, the thirst, the desire in them, and it's for me, only me. I can't even resist him even if I want to.

My hands move over his shoulders, fingers tracing over my name that's inches below his collarbone, just above his heart. I look up at him through my wet lashes, watching him while my fingers move over the dark inked skin. His hand comes around mine and he pulls it away before inching closer. There's no distance left between us. His head dips into the crook of my neck and his nose grazes over my wet skin.

I gasp when his teeth brush over my throat. He breathes hard on my pulse, and he grips me tighter, a lot harder. I can feel the tips of his teeth pressing onto my skin, so sharp. The urge to have him mark me grows inside me and I lean forward against him. Zade pushes me back onto the wall before slipping his fingers into my hair and holding my head back.

I breathe heavily while my eyes shut tight. An ache forms in my body as a longing feeling washes over me. My fingers tighten around him.

I need him. I want him.

I gasp as the tip of his teeth presses on my throat once again. It's tempting, so tempting. I can barely hold myself together.

His teeth sink into my flesh and everything turns into a complete haze. A small cry leaves my lips as he bites down harder, enough to draw blood. It feels like it's draining me of every strength I have while a numbing feeling overtakes my body. I hold onto him as my body trembles.

My back hits the wall once again as I try to catch my breath, but I can't. My legs weaken and the sudden feeling of his teeth sliding out of my skin makes me shudder. My eyes slowly open and I see him looking at me with wide, crimson eyes. His lips are coated in my blood and it's then that I realize he has marked me.

He marked me.

I reach my hand up to his lips and wipe off the blood before touching my neck.

"Are you fine?" I ask him, leaning closer.

His hand returns to my waist. "Yeah, yeah, I'm fine," There's a swift change in his expression, but his eyes remain hollow. "Why wouldn't I be?"

His head narrows and his mouth covers mine, kissing me before I can get the chance to say anything and I let him.

He marked her! What do you think is going to happen? Will he be able to control himself anymore, or will he finally lose it? Find out in the next chapters! 🤭
