The scream that erupts from my throat almost makes it feel raw. My bed is soaked in a crimson liquid that smells like death.

My heart races, and I feel a wave of nausea come over me. I press a hand to my face. My room is a disaster zone and it almost looks as if a tornado swept through it with all my belongings scattered everywhere.

I take a step forward, but my foot catches on something, nearly sending me sprawling. I manage to steady myself, my eyes darting around my room in panic.

A chilling realisation hits me. Someone was in my room.

Why would anyone do this?

My gaze falls on my pillow, where a letter sits, looking out of place amidst the chaos.

I make sure to watch my step as I walk to my bed, careful not to trip over anything again. My right-hand trembles as I reach for it, my mind a whirlwind of fear and confusion. The paper feels rough under my fingers as I unfold it. I'm already dreading what I might find inside since I have a feeling about who it might be from.

I read the note.

Stop digging or pigs blood won't be the only blood on your hands.

The words are scrawled in a jagged, hurried script, each one sending a chill down my spine.

If it were any other situation I would joke that the person writes as badly as a doctor. But unfortunately for me, it's way more serious.

My breath catches in my throat. This is a direct threat to me. Which means that the killer or killers know who I am.

Darn it, Levi probably noticed I took his phone and got suspicious. I hoped he would think that he misplaced it or that it got stolen, but not by me.

I glance around the room again, half-expecting someone to jump from the shadows and murder me. But other than the crickets outside my dorm it's eerily quiet.

Suddenly the room feels small and my throat feels as dry as a desert. I clutch the letter tightly, my knuckles turning white.

I need to get out of here, but where can I go?

My dorm, once a safe haven, now feels like a trap. I take a deep breath in an attempt to steady my nerves. I just need a minute to think clearly about what I'm going to do next. But all I feel is the overwhelming fear and need to escape pressing in on me.

But before I can go anywhere a feeling washes over me that I need to do something before I leave.

Right, Levi's phone! It must be the reason why my room is such a mess. Whoever broke in, and my money is on Levi, was probably looking for it. It must have important information on it. Luckily I hid it away in one of my drawers for safety just before Theo and I went on our date.

I immediately rush to my bedside drawer and jank it open.

Damn it. Levi's phone is gone!

I open another drawer, my underwear drawer and search for the notebook I stashed there. It's the one place that someone wouldn't dare look.
