This is getting out of hand.
I took a deep breath, keeping my eyes locked on Bakugo. He was furious, pacing in front of me like a caged lion. I could feel the tension in the air, thick enough to choke on. Yuzuki, bless her heart, had taken a step back after my little outburst about the shot. But now, the room felt like a ticking time bomb, with me and Bakugo both on edge.
"Alright, Deku," Bakugo growled, cracking his knuckles. "You think you can just keep running your mouth, huh? Refusing the shot, talking back—who do you think you are?"
Oh, here we go again.
I sighed. "Kacchan, I'm not gonna let you treat me like some kind of pet. I didn't come here willingly, and I sure as hell didn't sign up for a rabies shot!"
Bakugo's eyes narrowed, the familiar spark of his temper lighting up. "You think this is a joke? You're lucky we haven't put you in a cage!"
Cage?!
Oh, that's rich.
"No one's putting me in a cage, Kacchan!" I shot back. "I'm not some animal! I saved a cat and ended up in this insane world, but that doesn't mean I'm just gonna roll over and play along with whatever this is!"
Bakugo's patience snapped. "You wanna fight, nerd? Fine! Let's see if you can back up all that talk!"
Before I could even blink, Bakugo lunged at me, his hands sparking with the beginnings of an explosion. I barely had time to dodge, rolling to the side as he blew a chunk out of the wall behind me.
Great.
We're doing this again.
"Come on, Kacchan!" I shouted, jumping to my feet. "Haven't we done enough of this already?"
But he wasn't listening. His temper had already taken over, and now he was charging at me like a bull seeing red. I gritted my teeth, readying myself for the next round. If he wanted a fight, fine. I'd give him one.
Bakugo threw a punch, and I ducked, narrowly avoiding the blast that followed. The heat from the explosion singed the air around me, but I was quick on my feet. I weaved in and out of his attacks, blocking when I could, dodging when I couldn't. It was like fighting a hurricane—fast, relentless, and brutal.
But I wasn't the same kid who used to get bullied back in middle school. I had trained. I had fought to get into UA, and even though I was quirkless, I wasn't about to let him push me around anymore.
I sidestepped another punch, using his momentum against him to trip him up. Bakugo stumbled but quickly recovered, snarling as he came at me again. This time, though, I was ready. I grabbed his arm, twisting it just enough to throw him off balance, and with a swift movement, I sent him flying—right into the window.
CRASH!
Oh crap.
Bakugo hit the glass with a loud crash, the force of the impact shattering it instantly. For a split second, I thought he was going to fall through, but he managed to catch himself at the last second, grabbing the edge of the window frame.
I stared, wide-eyed, at the chaos I had just caused. Bakugo hung there for a moment, fury burning in his eyes as shards of glass rained down around him.
"DEKU!" he roared, pulling himself back inside, but before he could make another move, I bolted.
Nope.
I'm out.
I didn't give him a chance to recover. Without thinking, I dashed out of the room, my heart pounding in my chest. I could hear Bakugo cursing behind me, but I didn't stop. I couldn't stop.
The hallways blurred past me as I sprinted through the mansion, my feet moving faster than my thoughts. I didn't know where I was going, but I had one goal: get the hell out of there.
I barreled through a set of double doors, stumbling into what looked like a grand ballroom. The floors were polished, the chandeliers gleaming above, but I didn't have time to admire the scenery. I kept running, my footsteps echoing through the massive room as I made my way to the far side, where a set of glass doors led to the outside.
Almost there.
Just a little further.
I could hear the commotion behind me—footsteps, voices, shouts—but I didn't look back. My whole body was running on adrenaline, my mind focused on one thing: escape.
I pushed through the glass doors, bursting out into the open air. The sun was blinding, but I didn't stop. I was outside, finally, and there was nothing between me and freedom now.
Run.
Just run.
I vaulted over a low garden wall, my body moving on autopilot. The mansion grounds were sprawling, with hedges and trees everywhere, but I was agile. I leaped over obstacles, ducked under branches, and kept going, my legs burning but my determination stronger.
No one was following me—at least, not yet. But I wasn't going to stick around to find out if they would. I was out of that house, and I wasn't going back.
As I made my way through the garden, my mind raced. What now? I couldn't stay in this world, that much was clear. But how was I supposed to get back to mine? And even if I did get back... what then? I was dead, wasn't I? This whole thing was insane.
But there was no time to think about that now. I had to keep moving.
Finally, I reached the edge of the estate. There was a tall iron fence surrounding the property, but it wasn't anything I couldn't handle. With a running start, I scaled the fence, my muscles aching as I pulled myself over the top. I dropped down on the other side, landing in a crouch, and took a moment to catch my breath.
Okay... what now?
I looked around. The mansion loomed behind me, a symbol of everything I had just run from. But out here, beyond the fence, it was quieter. No one was chasing me, not yet at least. But I knew it wouldn't last. Bakugo wasn't the type to let things go, and the others... well, I didn't know them well enough, but they were loyal to him.
I needed a plan. I needed to figure out how to survive in this world, at least for now.
But one thing was for sure: I wasn't going to be anyone's pet.
