A Stomach's Growl and a Spy's Whisper (part1)

Rrrrrrrrrooooowl.

Kacchan: "Oh, for crying out loud," Bakugo groans, turning to face me. "If you're hungry, just say so, nerd."

Me: "It's not like I can control my stomach, Kacchan."

I rub the back of my neck, trying to ignore the fact that my insides feel like they're staging a rebellion. The past day has been... intense, to say the least. "But... if you say we're getting food, I have to ask... Is it going to be that same bland thing again?"

To my surprise, Kacchan actually laughs. Not just a chuckle—a full-blown laugh. He stops walking and doubles over for a second, wiping a tear from his eye.

I blink.

What just happened?

Kacchan: "Nope, not this time." He straightens up, still grinning. "I learned from my mistakes. You'll actually get to eat real food this time. And don't expect me to apologize again, Deku. That was a one-time thing."

Me: "Wait, you just—" I pause, his words sinking in. "You... apologized?"

Kacchan gives me that deadly glare of his, the one that screams "Say one more thing and I'll blow your face off," so I wisely drop it. Honestly, I never thought I'd hear him say sorry once, let alone twice, but hey—if today has taught me anything, it's that this world is weird.

  Kacchan being apologetic?

Must be a side effect of this bizarre cat world.

We keep walking through the quiet streets, the mansion looming closer as the sky starts to darken. The air feels a little lighter now, and I almost feel... okay? Like, maybe I can handle this strange new world—if only because it's weird enough that I feel like I fit in somehow.

That's when I remember.

The spy.

I stop walking, my thoughts suddenly heavy again. The conversation I overheard... the plans to take Kacchan down. I swallow hard, debating whether to bring it up.

Me: "Hey, Kacchan..." My voice is softer than usual, which grabs his attention immediately. He slows down, glancing at me out of the corner of his eye.

Kacchan: "What is it? You got that look on your face. What now?"

I take a deep breath. There's no use keeping this from him.

Me: "There's something I need to tell you. Back when I... you know, escaped... I overheard something. There's someone on the inside trying to bring you down. A spy."

His reaction is instant. Kacchan freezes, fists clenching, and his entire body goes rigid like he's ready to explode at the nearest thing.

Kacchan: "What did you say?"

Me: "I heard them talking. I don't know who it is, but they were planning something. Something big." I'm trying to stay calm, but the look on his face is making me wonder if I should duck for cover.

Kacchan takes a deep breath, his eyes narrowing in that deadly serious way. I can practically see the gears turning in his head.

Kacchan: "I knew there was a rat in the house... but if they're talking about a big move, then it's worse than I thought." He glances at me, and I can tell he's thinking fast. "You didn't see who it was?"

Me: "No... I was too busy, you know, running for my life."

He scowls, but I can tell it's not directed at me. Kacchan's quiet for a moment, clearly trying to decide what to do next.

Kacchan: "Tch. Fine. We'll deal with this back at the mansion."

Me: "And by 'we,' you mean?"

Kacchan gives me a side-eye that basically says, Don't push your luck.

Kacchan: "Just stick close, Deku. You're not off the hook yet."

I sigh. Typical. But honestly, after everything that's happened, I feel a weird sense of relief just walking side by side with him. Sure, he's still the same explosive Kacchan, but there's something about being around him, something familiar. Even in a world as twisted as this, it's like a piece of home, however small and weirdly shaped.

We walk in silence the rest of the way, but my mind is racing. Who's the spy? Why are they targeting Kacchan? And what do I do next? I glance at him out of the corner of my eye. As much as he drives me crazy, I don't want him to get hurt.

Great. More stress.

Me: "So... about that food?"

Kacchan just snorts, rolling his eyes as the mansion comes into view.
