The day had worn on longer than expected. Jungkook sat in the practice room, staring blankly at the floor. His thoughts were a jumble of emotions—frustration, exhaustion, and a dull ache that refused to go away. He reached into his pocket, his fingers brushing against the cold surface of his phone. Hesitating for a second, he pulled it out, staring at the screen, lost in the weight of what it could bring.
Dahyun, who had been watching him closely from the side, immediately noticed the shift in his demeanor. The phone in his hand was a symbol of everything that could undo the progress they had made. Without hesitation, she walked over and gently but firmly took the phone from his hand before he could unlock it.
" Mr. Jeon," Dahyun's voice was soft but resolute as she held the phone, "you don't need this right now."
He looked up at her, his expression conflicted. "Dr. Kim ... I just wanted to—"
"I know," she said, cutting him off gently. "But right now, this isn't going to help. You need space from all the negativity. We talked about this, remember?"
Jungkook stared at her for a long moment, as if weighing her words. His gaze shifted from the phone in her hand to her face, and for the first time that day, something in his eyes softened. "Why do you always know what to say?" he asked, a faint smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.
Dahyun smiled back gently, slipping the phone into her pocket. "It's part of my job to know, remember?"
Jungkook chuckled softly, the tension in his shoulders loosening a little. "Yeah, you're good at it."
She stood up and extended her hand to him. "Come on, let's get out of here for a bit. You need a break."
After weeks of hard work and emotional ups and downs, the day had finally come. BTS's new music video had just been released, and the world was buzzing with excitement. In just a matter of hours, the video had shot up the charts, surpassing every other K-pop MV that had dropped in recent memory. It was a massive success.
The BTS dorm was alive with energy that night. Laughter filled the rooms, and the members couldn't hide their joy. It was as though the heavy cloud that had been hanging over them for weeks had finally lifted.
"Can you believe it?" J-Hope said, eyes wide with excitement. "We broke another record!"
Jimin grinned, clapping Jungkook on the back. "You killed it, man! All those hard days, and look where we are."
The youngest member of BTS smiled, though there was a quietness to his joy. His gaze flickered to Dahyun, who was sitting in the corner of the room, sipping on a soda and watching them all with a warm, contented smile.
"Thanks, hyungs," Jungkook said, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly. "But it wasn't just me. We all worked hard for this."
"We know that, but tonight's your night," RM chimed in, lifting his glass. "To Jungkook and another hit for BTS."
The members cheered, clinking their drinks together. Even though it was an informal celebration, the mood was bright, full of pride and accomplishment. Everyone was laughing, chatting, and celebrating in their own ways. Jungkook, for his part, took a moment to step back from the group, his gaze drifting toward Dahyun again.
She caught his eye and gave him an encouraging nod, as if silently telling him that she knew how far he had come. He couldn't help but feel something stir within him. Over the past few weeks, she had been his anchor in the storm, always there with a kind word or just her steady presence.
As the party carried on, Jungkook found himself wandering toward Dahyun. He sat down beside her, the noise of the celebration fading into the background.
