Sorry I'm late with the update but its super long to go with the long wait! - Naomi
Drew POV
"So, you do own something other than a suit! I was worried that your entire closet was old man vests." I told Ev as he approached me wearing (comfy clothes. Idk fill in later). He looked good. Good in a way you should not be thinking your ex looked.
"Ha Ha Ha Ha. Very funny. And for your information I look great in those old man vests." He retorts and falls into step beside me.
"So you admit they're for old men," I tease and Ev glares at me but I can see the look in his eye that tells me he's missed this just as much as I have. I realized I was staring and quickly look at the ground.
"Where's your dogs?" He questioned.
For a moment I had forgotten I even had a dog, let alone two. When I came back into reality, I scanned the park for them. I had thrown a ball a few minutes before Ev had arrived so they should be coming back. But I should have been paying more attention.
And not thinking about how hot my ex is. I thought but quickly pushed it away.
Before I could answer the two came barreling towards me. I barely had enough time to get on one knee before they both tried to jump onto me.
"Hi guys! Are you guys good boys? Yes you are! Yes you are!" I greeted them and scratch both their heads.
Ev watched me with an expression that was somewhere in between surprise and awe.
"What?" I asked, without taking my attention of the dogs.
"I don't know. I'm just surprised that you treat your dogs like their your kids."
I covered PB's ears and stage whispered, "Don't say that. They can hear you." He chucked and shook his head. I pulled Ev down next to me and put J's head in his hand.
"J, this is Ev. Ev, this is J. He's my friend from a long time ago and is also a bit of an idiot." He greeted him with pets and scratches and did the same for PB. I stood and threw the ball so both dogs chased after it. We leisurely followed them and I waited for him to speak first.
"What does it stand for?" He brought up. I looked to the ground and pursed my lips.
"It can't be that bad!"
"It isn't bad it's just, I know that you'll remember why these names," I justified scanning the park again and hoping one of my dogs would appear.
"Come on," he whined, knocking into my shoulder.
"Patrick Brady and Julio," I mumbled.
"Wait. Patrick as in Patrick Mahomes? Brady as in Tom Brady? Julio as in Julio Jones?" I nodded after each name with my face rapidly growing pink.
"You named your dogs after our favorite players when we were kids?" I stayed silent and he took that as the confirmation that it was. Slowly a smile spread across his face turning into a chuckle and then a laugh.
"It's not funny! I thought long and hard about those names!" I argued, crossing my arms.
"No, I like the names. I just find you being embarrassed, really funny."
"And why is that?"
"Because it literally never happens,"
"Sure it does,"
"Think about it. When was the last time you were really embarrassed?" Ev questioned and threw the ball for PB and J as they came bounding back to us. Great timing guys.
