Hi! Thanks for coming back for the second story. This is my first time posting on Wattpad, so I don't really know what to say here... so enjoy ig? - Val

- Drew POV -

"Hey dude!" I hear.

I whip around, "What's up?"

"Nothing much, you?"

"Same...Same"

There are a couple seconds of silence before I speak, "You're coming to the football game tonight, right?"

He nods, "Got to keep my skills sharp."

I nod my head. Boy was this going to be awkward. We're in school together, (skipping class of course). I mean, we're good friends, always have been, but ever since the locker room... It's been complicated. Since the locker room was last week Saturday and I've avoided him with a vengeance ever since. I realized that I'm just staring at him so I blurt out,

"Can we talk?"

Oh my god! What did I just do? Why, why did I just say that? He opened his mouth, about to say something but the bell rang and we had to get to period four. I walk through the hall making sure to mess around with a few girls on the way and stop to talk to some of my other friends. I sit down, waiting for the teacher to take attendance. Finally after what seems like forever I hear

"Drew?"

"Here," I say, leaning back in my seat.

My mind starts drifting to what I said earlier and the answer that was a given. Well the absence of one. What would his answer be...It's too bad I don't have him in other periods. I could have gotten an answer. I don't even know if I want an answer at this point. Maybe we should just sweep that question under the rug, and never talk about it ever again. My teacher finally stops yapping. I raise my hand, while getting open the stupid SmartPass.

"Yes, Drew?" the teacher asks.

"Can I go to the bathroom?"

"Sure," Mrs. Z responds, "just fill out a SmartPass."

"Just fill out a SmartPass" I mimic Mrs. Z's voice, my friends laugh.

I fill out the dumb pass and got up to "go to the bathroom" or at least, that's what the pass says. I look up after grabbing the pass, Hudson is looking back at me. Perfect.

"Stop the pass," I mouth to him. He nods and starts to tap my Chromebook, probably stopping it. I walked out of the classroom and headed upstairs, since Hudson stopped my pass, I've got time. I walk over to my friend's class and waved at him, And just my luck, Ev was in that class. I couldn't run because that would look bad, but I couldn't exactly stay there either. Luckily Scott was already making a pass to the "bathroom". We walk as we talk. It is mostly about regular stuff, football, what we're supposed to be doing in class. Eventually we have to go back to class and I walk with Scott back to his class. This time Ev is looking up and we're holding eye contact for a second too long. This is going to be a very long day.

------------------------------

We have 15 seconds on the clock, we need something close to a miracle to win this game. No one would judge us, it's Roxbury and everyone knows that they have giants for football players. But I still want to win. We're so close I can almost taste it. Someone calls a play, I know them by heart so my legs move without me even thinking about it. I throw the ball to Ev, a perfect spiral. He catches it! The crowd goes absolutely wild. All I can think about is celebrating with Ev, but people immediately start crowding around each of us.

Once I get away from the crowd, I go to change in the Locker Room. I half expect Ev to come out of nowhere like last time, but no such luck. I come out of the Locker Room and I'm being swarmed by a group of celebrating people again. By the time everyone leaves, I'm the only person standing on the field. Then it hits me, I'm supposed to get a ride from none other than Ev. Sure enough, he comes out of the Locker Room cautiously.

"I wasn't sure if everyone else was still here," he says, noting my questioning look.

"Still wanna talk?" Ev asks me, stepping closer. I do, but I don't and my heart is beating so loud that Ev can probably hear it too.

"Yeah," I say weakly then I clear my throat, "Yeah we should '' I finish more confidently. He almost completely closes the gap between us, a question in his eyes. I nod, almost imperceptibly, as the gap is instantly closed. He tastes like mint gum and something that can only be described as him. It isn't a long kiss, but a kiss nonetheless. I smile, lips still brushing his.

"Was that okay?" he asks shakily, his smile probably matching mine. I just nod again, smiling even bigger. A car pulls into the parking lot and draws my attention from him. It's his parents car, most likely his Mom. I turn back to him and silently tip my head toward the car. He just nods, smiling as bright as ever.

It's a short walk that we make in a comfortable silence. He opens the door and climbs in, taking a seat in the back next to me even though the passenger seat is open. His Mom asks a few questions but usually everyone's exhausted after a game. But right now I have electricity in my veins. I could run laps right now with all this energy. I stare out the window at everything that passes by us, houses, trees, a road work sign. I turn my head and look at Ev, he's already looking at me, probably has been for a while. I smile at him and he smiles back. Slowly his hand leaves his lap and rests in the seat between us. I quietly reach and take his hand in my mind. I bet we're both grinning like crazy right now. I turn back to the window and I continue to look outside. Then I suddenly squeeze his hand, I don't know why. Despite this, he squeezes mine back, holding it just a little tighter.

--The End--

Congratulations, you just made it through story 2! I really want to know what you think (constructive criticism please)! Also, as far as I know the last chapter was read by one person (I think), so thank you to that one person, it made my day! - Valerie
