Chapter 6

Kevin

I watched as an ambulance pulled into her driveway. I ran across the yard and looked around in shock and confusion as her parents looked at the ambulance with the same look.

"What happened??" I asked, seeing Lailani being rushed into the ambulance. "We don't know. We just heard her downstairs screaming. She had a mysterious rash on her hand, too."

I frowned and looked at mine. "Did it look like this?" I stuck out my hand and they immediately snatched it up. "YES.." Her mom response teary-eyed.

"How did you get this?" Her father asked. "I don't know...I just woke up and it was on my arm."

"It must be some kind of infection...Lani said the pain was excruciating."

By now, the ambulance was ready to pull off. "You coming with?" Her mom asked, getting in the car.

I immediately got in the back seat and felt my pockets for my phone. Once I knew it was there, they pulled off, following the ambulance.

Sirens.

Red sirens.

"Please...stop..." I mumbled attempting to cover my ears. "We're almost there, sweety."

My eyes popped open. "WHERE?"

"Please calm down, we're almost at the hospital."

Why am I going to the hospital?

I looked at the foot of my bed and saw him.

Devin.

I didn't care how crazy I looked at this point. I needed answers.

"What happened?"

"You had a panic attack...Lanie you almost died."

"WHAT??"

"Calm down... you don't understand how dangerous that was. That shouldn't have happened, and I don't know why it did."

"What do you mean?"

The nurse stared at me in confusion.

"You and Kev...You guys time traveled."

I almost panicked again.

"This is one of the weakest spots in the time space continuum. You and Kev were thinking about the same time period at the same exact time. Same minute. Same second. Same millisecond. But, there was a major glitch, sending you two into different time periods. If you didn't wake up, you guys would have been stuck there forever, Watching the same scene over and over for the rest of your lives."

I was in complete shock.

"So... what happened after?"

"You freaked out. You didn't understand, so you panicked."

I layed my head back down and stared at the roof of the truck.

"I think I'm ready to tell Kev. I'll see you when I see you."

I didn't want him to go.

Again.

I felt like screaming.

Again.

Why me?

Devin looked at me for a couple more minutes with his cold, lifeless eyes, before dissappearing.

Those beautiful eyes, once filled with life and curiosity, now a pitch black. His adorable smile was something I didn't see anymore. The feeling of his hands on my body was a thing of the past.

No one understood how much I missed him.

I've tried to cope with this in every was possible, but it was no use.

I literally can't live without him.
