Rae walked in the room and sat beside me. "How ya feeling?"

"RAEEEEE!" Lanie yelled, opening her arms for her. Rae giggled and gave Lanie a bear hug. "I'm doing better."

"I just wanted to stop by for a quick visit. My mom said I had about 7 minutes."

"She didn't want to see me?" Lanie asked, confusion lacing her voice. "No, no. She doesn't have time because she's late for work."

"Oh, well tell her I'm doing fine and that I said hey."

"Will do," Rae turned towards me and gave a small smile.

"Wassup?" I said, returning the gesture. I didn't want to seem rude, but I didn't want to talk to or see anyone.

I went back to thinking.

...overthinking?

This plan sucked the social skills, energy, and creativity out of me.

What if something went wrong?

What if we died in the physical world and was stuck in the past forever.

I sat back a thought for a while.

What happens when the past catches up to the actual future?

"Whatcha thinking about?" Lailani asked softly, looking towards me.

"I don't know about this anymore. So much shit could go wrong in the snap of a finger."

"But think about Devin. He would do the same for us. We just have to do some very careful planning.

"I guess this is the feeling you get when you risk your lives for others." I sighed.

I couldn't even think straight enough to come up with a plan at the moment. My fear of death has completely taken over.

"It's going to be okay," She mocked, laying back down and closing her eyes once more.

"I know..."

"Then why are you still worrying? Once I get out of here, and try to convice the nurses I'm not insane, we'll be on our way to getting Devin back."

"But what if--"

"Don't. Thinking about what could go wrong can stop you from doing the right thing. Just relax."

I wasn't used to Lanie giving me advice, but she wasn't half bad.

There was a soft knock on the door.

"Come in!"

"Hey, how ya feeling?"

Lailani smiled. "I'm feeling much better."

I decided to go on and walk out before I was kicked out by the nurse. Walking around the hospital, I noticed a lot of...odd things going on. Usual things you see in the movies, but a little weird seeing with your own eyes.

The hallways were at an eerie silence. I looked heard coughing and gagging coming from some of the various rooms I walked past.

I just wanted a walk...

Not a death wish.

I headed back, despite the fact that the waiting room were a couple of paces ahead of me.

I sank down on the floor beside the door and covered my head with my hands.

I can't do this.
