IRIDESCENT

CHAPTER | NINE

The only good thing that came out of the situation with Nick St Clair, was that Kyle had finally woken up and realised how much he cared for Cheryl.

After he and Archie had paid a visit to Nick and gotten the Blossom's their cheque back. Kyle had taken it straight to her door.

He'd apologised for being such a fool and for playing it so cold with her. In truth, he was scared of caring for someone else and getting his heart broken again. He had loved Piper, and couldn't be angry with her for the reason they broke up.

Cheryl was thankful for the cheque, but couldn't quite find it in her heart to forgive him for ignoring her. She felt outraged that she had to be in danger for him to finally come to his senses, and wanted him to pay his dues a little bit longer.

Saying that though, she was mad for Kyle Clarke, and wouldn't let him slip away.

"Jughead Jones!" Savannah bellowed from the front of the school. "Are you mad?" She demanded, striding over to him. "Genuinely, have you lost your mind?"

She flicked the leather jacket that he wore, bearing the serpent mark that Weatherbee had banned from school.

"You got yourself suspended?" Savannah raged, "FP is going to kill you, you know that right?"

"I know." Jughead snapped back at her, still seething from his fight with the northsiders. "Still -"

"- still, nothing!" Savannah cut him off, "I don't care what's going on in that head of yours, you have a future ahead of you. If you want to go to college and be a writer, you better not get suspended again. That's on your record now, how could you be so stupid?"

"Alright!" Jughead cried out, "I get it, I messed up, okay! I don't need this from you right now."

Savannah opened her mouth to retort, but Jughead had already stomped off. She heard the roar of his bike and watched as he sped out of the parking lot, not even looking back.

She sighed, running her hand through her tousled locks. She knew that was dumb of her to attack him like that, but she couldn't help but be furious.

Their friend group were on the outs and Cheryl was outwardly defying against the southsiders, so it was a bit difficult for Savannah to reach out to her. She'd sent a few texts following the Nick incident to let her know that she was there for her, but the situation at school was still rocky.

The only people that Savannah felt comfortable talking to at the moment, were Archie and Veronica. Despite them getting back together, there was still some tension around them. Archie was barely around, and she had noticed that he and Kyle were spending more time together.

Savannah started thinking about her own problems. Since she was attacked by the Black Hood, she was thinking of her parents more and more. Her mother was nowhere to be found, and Savannah was starting to worry.

Despite everything he had done, she couldn't help but miss her father. Everything had gone so wrong within the space of a year, and she needed him to come and fix it, just like he used to. Before he found out his wife cheated.

She still hated him for all the pain he caused their family. Even if your wife screws up, you don't beat her and the children she bore. She had no idea her father could turn like that, like a light switch.

Classes had only barely started, and Savannah found herself walking toward the edge of the school grounds. Her attendance had been terrible lately, with her father dying and being injured, she'd had more sick days that year than her whole school years combined.
