IRIDESCENT
CHAPTER | TEN
A few weeks had passed since Savannah and Betty had made up. It seemed, thankfully, that their group was back together.
Archie and Veronica were as loved up as ever, with Archie becoming the right-hand man to Veronica's father, Hiram Lodge. They were working together, inviting Archie into the family business - whatever that meant.
Betty had been getting to know her brother, whom, she found out, was not actually her brother. She had shared her suspicions with Savannah after the reading of Clifford Blossom's will, and Chic decided he didn't want to be tested for the blood money.
"That's mega sus." Savannah had said, turning in her chair dramatically. "A junkie doesn't want money? That stinks."
The blonde had agreed, and stole a lock of hair from his bathroom. They had it tested, and voila, congratulations, Chic, you are not a Cooper. So, Betty had been sleeping over at Savannah's. She didn't trust Chic enough to throw him, and did not want to sleep under the same roof.
Betty had told Savannah about Polly having her babies. She'd taken one look at Chic, and disappeared again, back to her cult. Betty supposed it was safer that way, to stay out of Riverdale.
Her cousin, Cheryl, had also been spending a lot of time at the Clarke residence. She and Kyle had grown inseparable since the Nick incident. Cheryl was a welcome guest, and Savannah was more than happy to have her.
It was interesting, having so many people under one room.
Cheryl sharing a room with Kyle and Betty taking their mother's room - after they had tidied and disinfected every surface. They had thrown open the curtains for the first time in months, and even bought Betty her own light pink bedsheets to make her feel at home.
Jughead had been staying over as well, but every so often, would return home to see his father.
Since FP got a job at Pop's, Savannah had been seeing a lot more of him. Jughead would run Savannah to work, and stay there until she finished her shift, when they would both drive back to the Clarke house.
It was a nice dynamic, working with her boyfriend's dad, while said boyfriend tapped away on his laptop, continuing to write his story on Jason Blossom's murder.
Every half hour or so, one of them, would refill his cup. If it was Savannah, she'd take a peek over his shoulder, and pop a kiss on his cheek.
They only really worked together on the afternoon shift every Saturday, when it was busiest. But sometimes, Pop would throw them a bone and they'd end up with a couple other shifts together that week.
Eventually, FP and Savannah had their own jokes outside of Jughead. They'd try throwing fries into each other's mouths, and make fun of rude customers behind their backs. FP would defend Savannah against rowdy drunken men, then ruffle her hair after they left.
Jughead was pleased to see them getting along so well.
Savannah never really noticed it until years later, but FP was becoming a sort-of father figure to her.
Everything was perfect in Riverdale for once, they were all so happy.
Veronica, Betty, Cheryl and Savannah would have brunch every Sunday morning at the Lodge apartment. Veronica would pull out French toast and mimosas.
Every Friday night, Varchie and Javannah (not Sughead), would get together for a double-date. Sometimes, Kyle and Cheryl would join them. In the distant future, the line-up would change after the former couple went separate ways, but that was a story for another time.
