PAPA! Papa!"

"It's alright, Antonia, Papa will be okay. Stay here."

"No, Papa! Don't go!"

Fire blazed all around and screams ripped the air.

Blood splattered on the concrete pavement.

You bitch! You bitch!

I love you, Ate! I miss you!

Marahas na nagmulat ang aking mga mata.
Every nerve in my body pulsated as I gasped for air. Sweat dripped down my back and between my heaving breasts and for a moment, I couldn't see anything.

"God..."

Shuddering, I shut my eyes tight as I forced my heart to calm down. A nightmare. Another nightmare.

My eyes burned, but I swallowed back my sobs.

I was so tired. So tired.

My screaming mother, the text message, the SUVs, the man...

I woke up from a nightmare only to live in another nightmare.

I took a shower last night, and I had changed into a silk nighty. They even brought the dress I'd be wearing for the gala this weekend.

Somebody brought food inside my room while I was in the bathroom last night, but I could hardly eat anything. Now here I was, feeling weak and shaky from all my nightmares.

Dark, everything was just so dark. With trembling legs, I stood.

I walked toward the floor to ceiling window in a daze.

I could make out my shadowy reflection in the mirrored wall. My tan skin looked pale, my waist-length hair a dark mass. The silky nighty plastered onto my damp skin and clung to my curves, and the pearly fabric almost looked transparent. A wraith, a ghost, that's how I seemed to be, and it was fitting from how hollow I felt inside.

I just stood there, letting the cold wind brush against me. Strands of my hair fluttered in the wind, and I closed my eyes tight and let the breeze sweep over me.

With my legs still shaky, I stepped out onto the balcony.

The sound of crashing waves lulled my senses into a false sense of peace. The sea seemed to call out to me, singing to me to walk into the waves and let the water take me.

I stared at the dark sea spreading out below. We were so high above, and everything else seemed so small beneath us. But the sea was so vast, so dark, so endless...
