Part 54

You spent Monday and Tuesday helping Lilian set up for Thanksgiving. There was a lot to be done and it was kind of fun doing it together.

You left the decorating side of things to everyone else as you didn't particularly like that part.

You missed being around them. You haven't been able to have consecutive dinners with them in a long while now and it was nice that it wasn't just you and Lena.

It was only Tuesday evening, but you were already thinking about how you'll have to leave at the end of the week.

Your younger self would never believe you that you found a family you loved and who loved you. You smiled at the thought of how far you've come in the last few years.

You came back to reality when you felt a hand on your back. You smiled when you looked at Lena as she wrapped her arm around your back.

She smiled back and you placed a soft kiss to her lips. "Gross," Lex said teasingly from the other couch, watching you instead of the movie you were in the middle of.

"Shut up." You said, throwing a pillow at him as Lena cuddled into your side, making you lean back into the couch.

Lilian giggled softly against Lionels chest as she saw your usual playfulness. "You're just jealous because you're the only one alone." You said with a smirk.

"I have a girlfriend, thank you very much." Lex said sarcastically. "Hm, sure." You teased. "You've met her." He said, throwing his hands up in defence.

"Watch the movie." You said, revering your eyes back to the screen. "Even the movie is calling you single." You joked as the actors on screen were kissing at that exact moment.

Lex rolled his eyes and leaned back against the back of the couch, huffing in annoyance. You smiled at his reaction, shaking your head playfully, but didn't comment on it.

Wednesday morning, you all decided to go for a hike. It was quite cold outside at this point, but it would be nice to clear your heads and just get away from everything for a while.

You found a trail that wasn't too far and set off at 10 am. You walked hand in hand with Lena at the back of the group, while Lex led at the front.

It was nice and peaceful. You didn't often get to go out into nature like this as you're usually surrounded by cityscapes.

It took under 2 hours to reach the end of the trail. You set down some blankets and settled down to have a little picnic.

You stayed there for about an hour, enjoying some food and each other's presence without any phones or technology.

It gave you an opportunity to talk about life as you were so busy until now that you hadn't much time to just talk and fill each other in on your lives.

You collected all your stuff, double-checking that you didn't leave any trash behind and started heading back towards the cars.

About half way down, you noticed how Lena seemed to drag her feet and seemed distracted.

You squeezed her hand slightly and she looked up at you with a smile. "You wanna get in my back?" You said with a grin as you pointed with your thumb.

"Why?" She chuckled, amused. "Better view." You smiled. "Come on," you said with a head gesture, squatting down a bit.

She rolled her eyes but did it anyway as everyone continued walking, not noticing them stopping.

A small squeal left Lenas lips as you stood up, moving her higher up your back and grabbing her legs as she wrapped them around your body.

She kissed your cheek, "So this is how you see the world." Lena hummed as she was quite a bit shorter than you.

"See anything interesting?" You asked as she looked around. "I see a... is that a deer?" She said, looking off into the distance at a far away part of a forest.

From this distance it looked tiny, but she was pretty sure it was. At this point you had closed the small distance between you and the other Luthors, making them turn around.

Lionel laughed as he saw you and Lena. She pointed in the direction and the three of them looked that way.

"It's gone." Lena said with a pout as she looked back in the direction. "What are yous doing?" Lex chuckled. "Safety hazard much." Lex said as it was a downward slope, but nit very steep.

"It's fine. If we fall, we have all of you to cushion the fall." You laughed, receiving some less than satisfied expressions.

"No trust in me at all." You said shaking your head sarcastically. "I'm sure you've got it, but do be careful. We don't need any injuries for Thanksgiving tomorrow." Lilian said.

"Yes, Sarge." You grinned, making her roll her eyes playfully. "I can lead if you're still worried about being used as live airbags." You added.

"So childish." He murmurs under his breath. "Says you." You replied, hearing his words. "True." He said shrugging his shoulders.

You got back to the car, Lena had gotten off a while back as she wanted to walk the trail herself.

You drove back with Lena while Lilian Lionel and Lex went in the other car. You smiled as Lena put on your favourite song and you vibed along with every song she played until you got home.

"That was fun." You said as you were all finally together again, walking into the house. There was a chorus of agreement as everyone went inside.

There was still some stuff to do before tomorrow, but first and foremost, everyone wanted to shower.
