...Chapter 8...
“Any men, thou who bears the curse of thee holy relic left by the three divine beings shall get a an embrace from the lightning along with every single admiration of touch, till his last breath frees him of the pleasure.”He cursed it.
We all were shocked especially the monk. He wanted to stop the man midway but didn’t get a chance to. The man glared down at him and gave the creepiest grin I’ve ever seen.
He had the look of a complete maniac. His eyes had that helpless look but his lips had the mockery of winning. And his expression... his overall expression was dark which sent chills down my spine.
I felt my goosebumps straighten while my palm felt numbing pain.
Lights erupted from the land below the man and formed a circle of flash and patterns. A teleportation circle.
When did he prepare this?
But it was no use thinking things.
The circle was already activated. Even the hermit didn’t notice him drawing that but he didn’t stop him. A familiar flash surrounded the man and his body turned to fog and disappeared.
My knees gave away while I felt the ground. My hand burned against the dirt. “Tsk.”
I brought it closer to take a look.
I opened my fist only to find red nail marks dug at the centre of my palm in a curve. Horror gnawed at me. My breathing became uneven. I didn’t even notice myself clenching my fist not to mention the desperation in these scratches. Even now after he’s gone I don’t want to recall the thought of those cruel and maniac eyes along with that maliciously dangerous aura.
Suddenly I heard footsteps approaching me then a hand appeared in front of me out of nowhere. I lifted my head and met a pair of hazy eyes. The wrinkles surrounding those eyes seem to do him justice. A small head with big round eyes popped out from behind the monk. I grabbed the hand and stood up.
I was just dusting my clothes when my palm pricked again.“Hiss—” I hissed clenching my teeth.
“Let me see.” A bony hand with creases gently grabbed my hand and held it firm. He started to inspect it while the little boy came out of hiding and tiptoed to peek at the hermit’s interest.
Looks like he formed quite a trustful bond with him in those few moment of life and death.“Silly child.” Sounded a heavy voice.
Two bony frames covered my hand in theirs and a sudden flash occurred. The warm feeling returned and the numbness and prickling in my body disappeared. The light soon subsided but when I retracted my hand, it had not even the slightest trace of the scratches from before.
“Now shall we talk about the purpose of your visi—!” He stopped midway. His eyes widened as he stared at me.
‘?’
What?
Why did he stop?
I’m pretty sure the spell didn’t wear off because I can still feel my mana emptying bit by bit. But why’s he being like that? It feels as though he saw through me.
