Chapter 20

We stared into each other's eyes for a moment. But I broke the awkward silence. I was going to leave, when he grabbed my hand.

"I'm sorry, ok?" Nathan told me.

"There is nothing to be sorry for. Can you let me go now please?" He let go of my wrist and I walked back to the table. Nathan was following me back. Of course.

His girlfriend gave me the evil eye.  

"So, where were you two?" She asked fakely sweet.

"Oh, um..."

Nathan answered the question for me,  

"She came out of the bathroom when we bumped into each other."

Her eyes widened. "Ok," she said struggling to keep her voice calm and sweet.

Laura noticed this and broke the tension.

"So Nathan, how's the band?"

"Their fine."

"I mean-, how's the music?"

"Oh, it's coming out great! I hope you guys enjoy it when it's been released." Nathan said catching my eye.  

Then he got up to get a drink.

His girlfriend spotted us saying, 

"Oh I will !"

Then she told me, "I don't think we've officially met. My name is Brittany."

I replied but was interrupted,  

"I'm...."

"NOT worth my time, so stay away from Nathan. You're not worth it honey." She coldly interrupted.

"Oh I'm sorry. Did I ever tell you we WERE TOGETHER! Right before you of course."

I noticed her face turn bright red in anger.  

"Excuse me?!"

All of a sudden, Chloe interrupted our conversation saying, 

"Hi, so you're Nathan's new dog! Usually dogs don't wear the makeup store on their face though! Oh, I get it. You're a performing dog, wearing all that clown makeup! C'mon girl, roll over!"

"Ughh! Excuse me?!" She was about to fight with Chloe, which I knew would result in Brittney's funeral, when Nathan entered the room.  

"Brittany!"

She toned down saying, 

"Oh Nathan. Are we going on our date tonight?"

I eyed her when she almost kissed him.

He cut her off saying, 

"Um, the lads and I are going to finish a new song I'm working on."  

He looked into my eyes as if trying to say something.

Brittany clung to Nathan and eyed me trying to say, "watch it."

I gulped loudly. I wanted to stay out of trouble, especially from her.

I want to get back with Nathan, but I didn't want to be in danger.
