Eleven

"They'll be here in four days."

The Cullens had all gathered into a room together along with the three wolves.

"This could turn into a blood bath." Carlisle had been pacing and finally stopped and leaned against a table.

"Who's behind it?" Edward asked Alice.

"I didn't see anyone I recognized. Maybe one." Alice recalled the vision into her mind letting Edward see it. Jasper stayed by Elena's side which annoyed Embry. He knew that they were still together but he hated it.

"I know his face. He's local. Riley Biers." Edward had seen the boys face in Charlie's mind and now he sees it in Alice's.

"The missing boy my dad is searching for?" Elena looked to him.

Edward nodded, "He didn't start this." He couldn't think of any reason for this one boy whom they had never interacted with would want to start an army.

"Whoever did is staying out of the action."

"They must be playing with the blind spots in your vision." Alice looked over to Carlisle.

"Either way. The army is coming and there aren't enough of us to protect the town." Jasper was still at Elena's side. He definitely wasn't going to be leaving it anytime soon now that her safety was being threatened.

"Hold up." Jacob grew tired of not knowing what was going on around them. "What god damn army?!"

"Newborns. Our kind." Carlisle gave short answers.

"What are they after?" Embry asked. He didn't know if he really wanted to know the answer or not.

"They were passing around Bella and Elena's scent." Alice sounded like she hadn't wanted to tell anyone that. Immediately the room went cold. "A red blouse and a plaid scarf." Alice couldn't look at her human friends.

"They're after Bella and Elena?" Embry stood up straight and Quil followed. They both cared about the girls, one more in particular than the other.

"What the hell does this mean?" Jacob asked angrily. He wanted an explanation and he wanted it now.

"It means an ugly fight. With lives lost." Carlisle was solemn.

Jacob turned to look at his friends. Both would follow him if needed. Embry knew the second Elena's name was mentioned he would do all he could to protect her. Even if that meant getting hurt in the process. "All right. We're in."

"No! No way!" Elena and Bella were opposed to the idea.

"You'd get yourselves killed." Bella didn't want anyone to get hurt.

"I wasn't asking for permission." Jacob stood his ground.

"Edward." Bella turned to him for help but he didn't take her stance.

"It means more protection. For the both of you." Edward looked over to his singer's sister who he knew also didn't want the wolves to get hurt.

"Jacob," Carlisle called on the boy, "do you believe Sam would agree to an understanding?"

"As long as we get to kill some vampires." Elena rolled her eyes. Was he just doing this to prove they were stronger or did he really care about the girls being protected?

"Jasper?" Elena looked up to him.

"They'll give us the numbers. Newborns won't even know they exist. That'll give us an edge." Jasper knew how the newborn vampires would think after working with them for so long.

"We'll need to coordinate."

"Carlisle! They're gonna get hurt!" Elena stared at Bella as she spoke. She knew the vampires could defend themselves against vampires but werewolves were another story. Elena thought back to the histories they had heard the other day from Billy. The wolves had destroyed two vampires but they lost lives of their own in the process.

"We'll all need some training." Carlisle turned from Bella to Jacob. "Fighting newborns requires knowledge that Jasper has. You're welcome to join us." Elena admired Carlisle. He made a treaty with the wolves years ago so they could live in peace and now he's willing to help teach them how to kill their kind because they need the help.

"Name the time and the place." Jake stepped up.

"Jake, you don't know what you're getting yourself into." Bella wanted to talk him out of his choice but the boy had made his decision.

"Bella, this is what we do. You should be happy. Look at us, working together. You are the one who wanted us to get along remember?" Jacob's words were laced with sarcasm. This was his way at getting back at her and he knew it.

"I pray to god you know what the hell you're doing Jacob." Elena glared at him. The wolves all turned to look at her and saw how angry she was.

"Trust me. I do." He smirked. Elena was pissed. She knew Jacob and how his temper worked. She didn't like it one bit.
