a light from a balcony.

"What?" The blonde said confused.

"Don't be an idiot. I can't be sitting next to a class mate who hasn't showered in Ra knows how long."

Joey was taken aback. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. Kaiba then waltzed to the door gesturing for the other to follow him. The ex-gang member obliged and followed the CEO down to the front of the building silently. Joey stopped in his tracks when he saw the slick, black limousine. He watched the brunette hop inside and his gaze shifted to the driver who had his arm welcoming the younger teen in. Carefully as he could, he stepped into the car and sat adjacent to the other, who had his legs crossed and arms folded. The CEO let his gaze drop to the floor, refusing to look at the blonde.

The journey was carried out in quiet. The only audible sound was the breathing from both Kaiba and Joey. When the gracious car arrived at its destination, the blonde's mouth dropped to the floor. Behind the blackout glass windows, stood a stunning mansion. The driver hopped out of the car and opened the door for the pair. As the two carefully stepped out, they were greeted by a butler at the intricately carved double front door.

The blonde followed the CEO into the breath-taking hallway and began to admire the extraordinary details on the walls and ceiling. Joey never thought he would see anything so nice in his entire life. Whilst his gaze wondered, the brunette finally broke the silence.

"Up the stairs, down the hall, last door on the left. Bother me and you will be out of here before you can say 'I'm not a dog'." He said harshly.

The other shuddered slightly but did as instructed. He made his way to the room, cautiously opening the door and stepping inside. The room was a cool shade of green, with chocolate coloured bed spreads and furniture. After flopping onto the bed and tucking his hands behind his head, the blonde smiled with pride. He was actually going to stay here. Sitting up and sighing happily, Joey made his way over to the ensuite bathroom to take a quick shower.

After freshening up, the blonde made his way back into the room, towel at the waist. Suddenly there was a knock at the door, which slightly startled him. But he brushed off the shock and opened the door to the short but sweet maid, who was trying to hold back a giggle.

"Hello, Mr Wheeler, Master Kaiba instructed me to bring you these." She handed him a neatly folded pile. "And I am also to inform you dinner will be served in thirty minutes. The dining hall is down the stairs, to the right, follow the hallway and it is on your left."

"Thanks." Joey replied, watching the bubbly maid bow in respect and skip happily down the hallway.

Changing into the clean set of clothes he had been handed, Joey decided to head down to dinner. He stepped down the hall. Picking up the pace once he reached the stairs, his untucked white shirt, lifted slightly behind him. Upon reaching the dining room, the butler whom he was greeted by previously, was now waiting at the door.

"Ah, Mr Wheeler. Please take a seat, dinner will be served momentarily."

The blonde's gaze drifted to the single place setting on the table and he cocked his head in confusion.

"Hey, where's Kaiba?"

"Master Kaiba, under the circumstances of the past few days, hasn't once entered this room." The butler said softly, but with slight worry in his tone.

The ex-gang member's mind flashed to Kaiba. He hadn't eaten anything in days? At that moment, Joey really understood the bond between the Kaiba brothers, how far they would go to protect each other and the extreme effects one would have on the other.

The flashing red numbers burned into the blonde's mind. 1:23am. He shot up from the bed and sighed. A small breeze drifted through the room, making Joey shiver as it hit his naked torso. Making his way across the room, he grabbed his white shirt, leaving it unbuttoned after throwing it on. Stepping over to the balcony, he took in a deep breath of the cool night air. The light wind tugged at his messy blonde locks and his skin shuddered for the only other thing he was wearing was his boxers.

Joey looked out over the shadowed city, his mind contemplating both his and for some reason Kaiba's, current situations. But his thoughts were cut short when he noticed a dim light from the room to his left. The light danced and changed colour violently; being projected through the window onto the balcony floor. It looked like the light from a computer screen. His mind instantly knew it was Kaiba in his office, working away in early hours of the morning like some sort of robot. Joey figured this was typical for the brunette and went back into his room to try and gain some sleep.

The blonde exhaled deeply. Pulling on his uniform blazer, he knew this was the last he would see of this place and he would have to crawl back on the streets. With dismay clearly on his face, he trudged downstairs and made his way out to the limousine waiting for him in the driveway. As expected, the driver led him inside but he did not expect to be in the company of a certain CEO.

"Trust you to make us late Wheeler." The brunette didn't even look up from the ground.

"Sorry." Was all Joey would spill out, already not looking forward to the night ahead of him.

"You better not do this tomorrow." Kaiba replied harshly.

"Tomorrow?" The blonde's eyes filled with slight shock and hope.

"Yes, the day after today Mutt." Kaiba explained sarcastically.

"I know what tomorrow means! I just thought I would only be staying one night."

"I can't have you living on the streets. Ra knows what you could infect me with. You will stay until you have somewhere else to go."

"Thanks."

"You're lucky that you sit next to me in pretty much every class, otherwise I would have no need to give you such treatment."

The blonde smiled lightly; even after being insulted. Warmth flooded through him as he knew that he would have a bed to sleep in whilst he needed it.
