11:00pm. Joey sat up in his bed. He ran a hand through his messy blonde hair. No matter how hard he tried, sleep just wouldn't come. The day had gone just fine and as expected. He had a laugh with his friends who were still ignorant to the fact that he was living with Kaiba. Nothing was wrong or caused any worry for the blonde but yet he couldn't catch a minute of sleep. He sighed in defeat.

"Maybe taking a walk will tire me out." He said softly to himself, slipping on some clothes before leaving the bedroom. He wondered the halls aimlessly. Hands thrust in his pockets, he paced up and down, trying to welcome the just out of reach feeling of exhaustion. Strolling casually down the mirrored hallway, he noticed a door, slightly ajar. From what the blonde could see, the lights were off but the room was dimly light by a constantly alternating source. He watched as changing colours broke through the gap between the door and the frame. Lining his eyes up with the small crack, Joey noticed the infuriating brunette tapping away viciously at the keyboard. The blonde watched the other for a moment but was snapped from his gaze when he heard the startling voice of the other.

"Are you just going to stand there all night?"

Joey almost had a heart attack. "How did he know I was here?!" He thought to himself. He managed to muster a brief reply. "Sorry... I'm going." He mumbled, turning his head to leave.

"What are you doing roaming the halls?" Kaiba asked, not taking his eyes off the screen in front of him.

Joey looked back at the CEO, inching the door open before saying, "I can't sleep."

"Well, a mutt like you doesn't exactly do anything productive throughout the day, I'm surprised you need sleep at all."

"I'm not a dog." The blonde growled.

Kaiba just closed his eyes and smirked.

"What are you doing up so late then?" The blonde retaliated.

"What does it look like I'm doing?"

"Avoiding my question."

"If you didn't know, I have a company to run, mutt."

"Which does not need you to be at your desk 24 hours a day..."

"Whatever." The CEO dismissed the other.

"So, what's the real reason?"

"Ugh, I can't sleep either, alright? I can barely ever sleep." The brunette huffed.

"Huh, figures."

"What is that supposed to mean?"

"Well, I erm..."

"Spit it out mutt."

"Well I noticed you were up the other night and you just said you rarely sleep. Don't you think that maybe the reason you can't sleep is because you have always been alone?" Joey said softly.

"What are you getting at?"

"I just noticed that... Well. I have never actually seen you with a girl before."

Kaiba's heart almost stopped.

"That is completely absurd! You don't know what you're talking about."

"Okay the sleep thing was a long shot, but I am right aren't I? About..." Joey was cut off by the brunette.

"I don't have to put up with this! Get out." The CEO said harshly.

Joey huffed in annoyance. Kaiba couldn't have a personal conversation with someone if his life depended on it. He clenched his fists in anger and stormed back to his room, muttering harsh words under his breath.
