3rd Person POV

5:00 am

The scream of the alarm clock made Joey's head hurt. He groaned. Jamming his head into the pillow, he prepared to scold the brunette. "Why did you set the alarm so damn early?!" His voice was muffled due his face still being forced into the bedding.

The CEO shifted from under the covers to shut off the alarm. Rolling over to face his bed mate, he smiled and weaved his fingers through the blonde's hair. "I have to go on a business trip today."

The ex-gang member sprung up with a slight look of hurt in his eyes. "For how long?"

"A week." Kaiba replied regretfully. The blonde let his gaze fall to the bed. "Don't be like that. I'll be back before you know it Mutt." Kaiba smiled, lifting the blonde's chin to give him a light kiss.

It was the day before Kaiba was due to return and Joey had never felt so restless. To say he missed the young CEO was an understatement. Never in his life, he thought he would need someone so much. However, this did not go unnoticed by his friends. The blonde looked even more uneasy with every passing day so the group decided to try and cheer up their friend by spending the night at Yugi's. So here they were, in Yugi's bedroom, playing spin the bottle.

"Okay Mai, it's your turn."

The busty traveler soon began laughing hysterically from the reaction she received as the bottle stopped and pointed towards Joey.

"Wait Mai, I..." He stuttered hopelessly.

"Don't be a baby Joey is just a bit of fun." Duke moaned, hoping his friend would loosen up.

Mai smiled crawling over the ex-gang member. "I promise I'll be gentle." She giggled, only inches away from Joey.

"Mai, I'm sorry... Just..." He mentally hit himself. Either way, he was going to do something he'd regret. But there was no question, he would never cheat on Kaiba. He knew was so going to pay for his next words but it was a risk he was going to have to take.

"I can't, I'm with someone okay?" He said softly just as Mai closed her eyes. The blonde froze in her spot, eyes shooting wide open.

"I'm so sorry Joey, I never would have...If I knew..." She stuttered.

"It's okay Mai, I just didn't want anyone to know."

The whole room was full of shocked faces, staring directly at Joey. "What?! You've been keeping a secret girl friend from us?" Tristan questioned, slight anger in his tone.

Teá cried eagerly "Oh my gosh Joey, who is it?"

"Tell us Joey" Mai smiled, still perched in front of the blonde.

Joey was screaming internally. The one thing Kaiba asked him to do and he failed. He had to get out of here and calm himself down. "I'm sorry guys, I can't say." Getting, up he grabbed his jacket, flinging it over his shoulder as he rushed towards the door. "I have to go; I'll talk to you later."

The blonde hurried out the door, not looking back. His friends were left, confusion plastered on their faces.

"He'll be fine; he's just annoyed he spilled his secret. Just give him some time to cool off and we will go see him in the morning." Tristan huffed.

**************

The next morning, Yugi, Tristan and Teá made their way over to Joey house in hopes the blonde had calmed down. But what they did find was most unexpected.

"That worthless son hasn't been here in weeks. Some suits came to pick up his clothes and I haven't seen him since." The man mumbled, most likely from the alcohol clearly on his breath.

Back down on the street, the group looked worried. Yugi was the first to speak. "I don't understand, if he was kicked out why didn't he say anything? And where has he been staying all this time?"

"He must have been living on the streets." Teá cried.

Tristan's gaze was fixed to the floor, he never thought his best friend would keep such a secret from him. "No, he can't have. He's been coming to school looking even better than usual these last few weeks"

"He's been staying with someone... He must have." Yugi thought hard for a moment. "His girlfriend! he must have been staying with her!!"

"But I don't understand. Why has he been keeping that a secret, why has he been keeping HER a secret at all?" Tristan was beyond confused.

"Maybe he's just shy." Teá added

"No, not about girls. I've known Joey forever. He would never be shy about something like that."

"I just don't get it..." The shorter male sighed. "Wait a second, Joey's dad said something about some guys in suits picking up his clothes..."

Teá was worried. What if Joey had got himself into something dangerous? Why else would mysterious men in suits show up at his home? But why did they come for his clothes? And why did Joey seem so natural and unfazed about it? "They must have been with the mystery girlfriend." She said softly.

"They can't have been, the only person who can afford people like that is Kaiba." Tristan's stomach churned just at that man's name.

Everyone went silent for a minute but soon enough Yugi's mouth dropped to the floor in realization. "Kaiba! It all makes sense, the suits, Joey looking better, the car, everything! He's been staying with Kaiba. That's why he didn't mention anything!"
