Rory's heart pounded as she entered the Singh estate. Confronting her family wouldn't be easy.
Elijah's reassuring presence beside her helped calm her nerves.
"Rory, what's going on?" her mother asked, concern etched on her face.
Rory took a deep breath. "I need to ask you something."
Her father, Raj, stepped forward. "What is it, beta?"
Rory's eyes locked onto his. "Are you involved with Jai's schemes?"
The room fell silent.
Her mother's eyes widened. "What are you talking about?"
Rory's voice trembled. "The witness's testimony... It claims our family is involved."
Raj's face darkened. "That's ridiculous."
But Rory saw a flicker of doubt in his eyes.
"Elijah, tell them," Rory urged.
Elijah explained the witness's claims and the evidence gathered.
Raj's expression turned grim. "We'll cooperate fully."
But Rory sensed hesitation.
"Father, tell me the truth," Rory pressed.
Raj sighed. "We... We made a deal with Jai."
Rory's world crashed around her.
"What kind of deal?" Elijah demanded.
Raj's voice barely above a whisper. "We helped Jai with his business... In exchange for protection."
Rory felt betrayed.
"You knew what Jai was capable of," Rory accused.
Her mother's tears flowed. "We were desperate, Rory. We thought it would keep you safe."
Rory's anger boiled over.
"You put me in danger," Rory spat.
Elijah's calm voice intervened. "We need to focus on bringing Jai down."
Rory nodded, determination burning within her.
Together, they strategized, planning to use Raj's testimony against Jai.
But Rory's trust was shattered.
Could she ever forgive her family?
As they left the estate, Rory's phone buzzed.
An unknown number flashed on the screen.
"Rory, you're getting close," a menacing voice whispered.
Rory's heart skipped a beat.
"Who is this?" Rory demanded.
The line went dead.
Rory's instincts screamed warning.
